Re: How long to settle on new food?
If you think he is definately okay on rice and chicken to save your sanity (at least for a short while) you could put him on something like Natures Diet/Wainwrights chicken and rice trays of food. Probably more expensive than CSJ but cheaper than JWB. I found after a very long time 'experimenting' t...

Re: Wainwright's Puppy Trays
Wainwrights is actually a very good wet food and has more meat than even the more expensive brands. (ND and Natures Menu etc) Ted used to have it and loved it but he developed allergies later on and now can't have rice so finding a decent wet food is impossible. Maisie our older dog still has it mix...

Re: Collapsing doodle
How very worrying for you Jo :( I would definately discuss cataplexy with your vet as my initial thoughts were that it sounds sort of narcopletic/cataplectic. I think it would also fit with the test results that Jasper has had - given that it doesn't show anything abnormal re:bloods and it is neurol...

Re: Help!
Runny poos are definately a sign of over feeding - which is very easy to do as with a puppy you treat them for being well behaved as well. I'm not sure if its just a typo in your post but you said the back of the food recommended 250g over the day which you said is 150g in the morning and the 2x100g...

Re: Electric fence.... :(
She will be fine :D The tape fences have a lower voltage compared to the metal cattle fences which are usually used for cows but I have had the misfortune of touching both and whilst its not nice its more of a shock than anything. Maisie walked into one of the cattle ones and it did give her a shock...

Ted doodle is just like this :( He gets really nervous in certain situations and I have come to be able to read what these situations will be. It was really worrying at first as he just randomly started barking at old people and being fearful in certain places. I do think it is probably me that has ...

Re: Teaching Barney to jump into the car
Ted doesn't travel in the car very often (thankfully, we have good walks close by) but we started him in the footwell  Very bad I know - but it was only a few inches off the ground and he had know problems getting in. At around 9months he went into the boot and he just jumped in like he had a...

Re: Doodle Bikers
I jog... but without Ted  The general recommendation is that a puppy should only be walked for 5mins per month of their age until about a year, especially with the large breeds in order to prevent HD. (not sure if Cleo is a mini?) Although its difficult to know how much of HD is genetic/environ...

Re: Fed up - at end of my tether!!
Try not to worry too much about Poppy's behaviour dogs do have some natural order (although I'm not into full on pack theory) and do protect their things from other dogs. Also as she is not possessive and aggressive towards you its not as bad as you may think. My doodle is a pretty nervous dog and w...

Re: Noodles has damaged her cruciate ligament
Maisie damaged her cruciate many years ago and had to have an operation - she underwent the best treatment at the time as we had a specialist locally and she healed very well and you wouldn't be able to tell she had a problem with her back leg. She did it falling into a rabbit hole so it happens in ...
