Re: Help please, anyone got experience of gps collars?
Pollydoodle, sounds like a good idea, I'll look into it. And thanks for the link Bid. Liz, I hope you don't mean me re Vick as I've never used it on Phoebe and wouldn't. :) The tracking device is useful but not foolproof. It's great most of the time, although the live tracking function uses up a lot...

Re: Help please, anyone got experience of gps collars?
Only just caught up with this thread as I'm not on here as much these days (various reasons). Phoebe, who is four, has always been good about staying with me on walks in the woods etc. She'll go off rummaging but never more than 100 yards away. About three months ago she caught a rabbit! She didn't ...

Re: When to expect my babies to experience first season ?
Not to worry - Phoebe was 18 months before she had her first season. I was very worried by that time, but the vet said it was unusual but not unheard of. I guess they do things in their own sweet time!

I don't have that problem - Phoebe turns her nose up at any fruit or veg

Re: Stout the honey monster!
Well, I tried it and she turned her nose up at it! Wouldn't go near it. I smeared a little on her muzzle and she licked at it, then walked away. Guess she's not a sweet toothed dog.

Re: Sleeping doodles
Yup, Phoebe fits the doodle sleep pattern. In fact, I think most dogs spend a lot of time sleeping. It used to worry me, but now I think a dog's day is all sleep, highlighted by food, walks, play and cuddles. Not a bad life really.

Re: Quirky dogs
Could have something to do with their genes. Labs are notoriously greedy and will gulp down any old thing. Poodles are more refined and can even be finicky eaters. Maybe you've got one of both

Re: Dogs and swimming
Phoebe loves water and puddles, but she likes to be able to walk in. She will go out of her depth and swims beautifully, but only if she can walk in on her terms! She won't ever jump off a bank so if there's no easy path in, forget it. She's great at the beach as, obviously, she can walk in, and wil...

Re: New Puppy
Hi Helen, Welcome to you and Zack! I think half the fun of a dood is guessing how big or small they're going to be! Like Dee Dee's Lulu, Phoebe had a small lab mum and a miniature white poodle dad. Lulu and Phoebe are the same age and similar in looks, but unlike Lulu, Phoebe stands 21 inches and we...

Seasonal flank alopecia
So, Phoebe developed a bald patch on her flank about 8 weeks ago. Long story short, and £400 later in tests, it turns out it's a condition called seasonal flank alopecia. Apparently it's quite common in boxers, bull dogs and labradors and manifests as a patch of hair loss, usually on the flanks, whi...

I've been under the weather for the past week and I've had a lot of very similar poses from Phoebe! Where's my ball? Play with my toy? Why no walk?

Re: Harley
Maybe nosiness is a doodle trait? Phoebe is the nosiest dog I've ever met. On walks, she has to investigate everything. When walking on the pavement, she will go up on her back legs to peer over people's garden walls! Any parked van with the doors open, she's in there. Workmen and builders don't sta...
