Re: Next doors dog!

Practise the 'watch me' treat technique when you get your dogs full attention with either a favourite toy or very high value treat and get her to keep her focus completely on you and keep doing this as you pass next door. It will be hit and miss for a while but persevere so she realises that your mo...

Re: Vegetarian dog

My dogs have always had a varied diet including meat fruit vegetables and I would not like to deprive them of the enjoyment and nutrition from any of these sources. My dogs love meat and bones and offal more than the vegetable side and they are perfectly built to deal with this varied diet. They wou...

Re: Honey?

My girls enjoy a lick or two of runny honey half way through a Flyball competition day. I think it gives them a treat and gentle energy boost as they can't be fed during the day due to racing and will have only had a very light breakfast.
They love it.

Re: Growl

Hi Elaine Dexter has used his best method of communication here as he doesn't have the words"go away and leave me alone" A growl is fine but then the hoomans must intervene and stop the behaviour that caused the growl. You need to ensure the grandchild does not get close to Dexter at all as now the ...

Re: 2 days in...

Puppies are exhausting!! It does get better and they grow so quickly. Pup is a baby and doing everything pups do so is quite normal. If you try and relax a bit it will transmit a bit of calmness to pup too. As above take pup out after waking, eating drinking playing cuddling in fact every 30 mins or ...

Re: Could use some advice from Labradoodle owners...

Hi there Welcome to the forum. I have a standard doodle and a miniature doodle too so very lucky indeed. When both were pups we probably had the coldest And wettest weather for years and it was no fun standing in the garden for ages every hour or so toilet training but it was only an open door away....

Re: Chill out time with puppy?

This is quite normal for a pup this age and he will grow out of it.
Just stay calm and offer treats for good behaviour.
I went through thus with both my Doods and it is frustrating but thankfully does pass
Short time outs do help.

I feel your pain
I cut the top of my left thumb off on a vegetable mandolin and needed 3 tourniquets at hospital
Last year I cut a big chunk of skin off my knuckle ( and I mean big) with garden scissors
Keep your hand raised and have a mahoosive glass of wine

Re: Finding her Paws !

I'm sure Mabel is just finding her place in her new home and in some ways rescues almost revert to some puppy behaviours to cope with the changes.the dog club I am a member of would welcome you to classes - I do hope your local area has something similar. Even a beginners agility class would expose ...
