Re: 2nd dog plunge

Hi, when we got our 2nd dog labrador, like you I had jitters just before committing. I mentioned them to my husband and said 'what will we do with 2 dogs' and he said 'have twice the fun'. He was wrong, its more like 4 times the fun! Seriously, having 2 dogs is a lot less portable, when we had one w...

Re: Could use some advice from Labradoodle owners...

I think it is really tough leaving dogs for that long - and the more you research the more you realise that a lot of dogs have huge anxiety problems from being left, if you search there are now studies where they put cameras in the house when people are out and the results are not happy if you are a...

How long to (largish) labradoodles live

I googled this and came up with a post from 2007 on this forum, and the consensus of opinion was 12-15 years, but no one seemed to have any older doods, so not much first hand experience. Now, 8 years on, I wondered whether there was a larger body of knowledge. My lovely dood is nearly 2 yo but my m...

Re: Dog smell and bath !!!

If you do, I use a Barrier Natural Lavender Wash, it cleanses using coconut oil as a base and lavender so doesn't need rinsing off, I would definitely not use anything with a detergent base unless for a very specific reason (dog has rolled in fox poo). It is designed for horses (who need the oil in ...

Re: Beautiful collars

Simba Jones does beautiful beaded leather collars. Ours is much admired, she also sell from 'notonthehighstreet.com' but is slightly cheaper if you buy direct.

Re: Austinsmumma - where are you

Good to hear that you and the gorgeous Austin are OK and still out there having fun! PS I would agree with you about Doodles being wonderful until this morning, when my not so wonderful doodle ran off at the coast, chased every random stranger with/without dog in tow, got completely covered in mud, ...

Re: been to new vets

Interesting subject - and very interesting that no-one else has heard of a gland/worm link. I will ask my vet next time I go to her - I always thought that weight/diet/breeding had an impact on glands so would be interested to ask her opinion - I will report back although it may be a while as (hopef...

Re: dont buy

I saw the picture too and found it very disturbing. I also think that with the trend for things being edged in fur, that as consumers we should really check that it is ethically produced - I have heard of similar stories of cats being skinned alive for the fur trade. Oh what the heck - fake fur is g...

Re: Working full time with a Labradoodle?

Please don't unless you really have a good budget for dog walkers, etc. Labradoodles need huge amounts of stimulation and are highly social - and being left alone for long periods it will leave you with a dog with an almost certain chance of developing behaviour problems. Poor thing will go mad bein...

Re: SCARED OF THUNDER

I have a labrador who is terrified of thunder and lightening. As soon as the pressure rises (drops?) before a storm he starts shaking and doesn't finish until the storm is well over. He is 8 now and over the years we have tried everything, tablets from the vet, desensitising, ignoring, hugging but n...
