Re: Not sure how to play with Logan

Remember he's a baby. He will lose interest or get tired - in fact they can/will sleep about 20 hours a day. They need to sleep for all the info they are taking in to go into their little brains. You will often find that very short training sessions are much more successful, and even if they don't '...

Re: Puppy out and about and needing to wee

i used the puppy carrier attached to me - if you have the sling, then i'd use that to bring her home in, she will be scared and worried and a cuddle would be welcome. You will be held in by the seat belt, so very safe for the pup. alternatively if you have a middle seat belt put that round a cardboa...

Re: Puppy out and about and needing to wee

I bought puppy pads - we had the outward hound puppy carrier as Lola is an assistance dog and had to be taken everywhere to get used to stuff! Just put one in. Even when she was very little she didn't actually wee in there, though... It's tricky, I'd try and only take her to places where there have ...

Lola's blog... and mine

Just in case anyone is interested (I know there are a couple of fans!) my A-Z of animals (with poems) for the month of April has started on http://www.lizbrownleepoet.com

Lola's blog is on there too, white links at the top - she is my assistance dog, there is info and stories about her there.

Re: Bitches wee damaging grass

Yes, agree with Bid - you don't know what you are doing to them putting stuff in their water. It's all part of having a dog.. or, er bitch! funnily enough it used to worry me but now I seem to be able to ignore it - either that or is doesn't happen so much any longer! It's the nitrogen in the wee th...

Re: What's wrong with Doodles?

I think the problem lies in the fact that people REALLY like the look of doodles -and breeders have realised that there are a lot of breeds that could 'improve' in the cuteness stakes with an injection of curly hair. not to mention improve in brain power - poodles being the second most intelligent d...

Re: Grass Seeds

Lola hates water. Thank goodness... the one time she fell in she smelled horrible. She has a shower in the bath when she gets home, and just doing that, smoothing the conditioner though, helps you feel where there are any suspicious lumps, bumps, seeds etc.

Re: How accurate are puppy size predictors?

Our Australian labradoodle breeder can actually guarantee sizes, between certain parameters - ie 14-15 inches, 16-18, 20-22 etc. They should be able to.

Re: How accurate are puppy size predictors?

Yes - that was exactly what i said, it's unpredictable if you have parents of different breeds. the puppies will tend to favour the size of the mother genetically, but could favour either parent. The only predictability comes in if both parents are multi-multi-generational and of the same size as ea...

Re: How accurate are puppy size predictors?

The charts only really work if you know what size your dog 'should' be as an adult - for example, two pups might be exactly the same size at a certain age, and the same weight, but one might be destined to be a greyhound and one might be destined to be a miniature poodle. They rely on you knowing wh...

Re: Grooming: How much???

My hairdresser told me it costs at least £4,000 to train as a dog groomer - so they don't charge that much imo!

Re: Grooming: How much???

Trimmers are noisy, scary things and it's easy to make a mistake if you have no experience, either of wriggly puppies, of trimmers, or the right way to cut a labradoodle. The very best thing you can do is ask other dog owners in your area for their experiences, go along to one of them, see how they ...
