Cluck Cluck Cluck!

Hello! Do you remember me? Maybe not, as I haven't posted here in about 18 months! For those who do, Commodore the golden labradoodle is now 2 and a half and such a wonderful boy. I could not love him more! I'll cut to the chase: I want to get chickens! Ideally 4 ex battery hens that live in a secur...

Commodore wins over the neighbourhood

Had to share this story which you might enjoy. Today was a Street Party run by the residents' association which I co-chair. Lots of people turned out and it was wonderful to see. I took my 30kg, 16 month old doodle along for the fun. Nothing phases him so I thought he would enjoy it. We were constan...

We got C clipped at about 9 months when he started matting regardless of my best efforts. And the lovely groomer has shown me what to do, as she doesnt really like all the wor...

Re: Commodore will be on TV tonight (Thursday)!

Hi Ianto! Would be interested to read that, please DM me the link if it cant be posted here. I did see a few comments here from people saying they were happy with their Wentwood pup so I cant really comment, but I know I couldnt have done better than C's breeder. He came to me fully housebroken. He ...

Re: Commodore will be on TV tonight (Thursday)!

Swardie, it wasnt about doodles. It was about puppy farms in general and a range of dogs were shown both in the cute pets and the puppy farm sections.. The only crossbreed I heard mentioned was cavashon. Glad they didnt decide to highlight doods. And hope ppl enjoyed seeing Commodore! If not, it is ...

Commodore will be on TV tonight (Thursday)!

Just to let people know that Commodore will be on TV tomorrow (Thursday 31 July). "Tonight: The truth behind the bargain dog trade" is on ITV1, 730-8pm. Ive been told Commodore made the cut but will only be featured briefly, so dont blink or youll miss him! They were desparate for a labradoodle & fi...

Re: Golden Labradoodle puppy available

Oh, had no idea :-( How sad for the prospective owners that things have changed, it must be a serious situation if they had to back out. I can vouch for Michala's beautiful, wonderful pups - I could not love Commodore any more than I do and he has evolved into the most wonderful dog. Still mischeivo...

Re: Which clippers / how do I know which blades?

Ah! I have curved scissors but would be scared to use so close to his bits, they are SHARP. Got clippers, C let me do his belly a bit, but when I went near his behind he sat down. It would only take ten seconds if hed stand still, but I dont want to scare him... so I stopped of course. Hmmm. The gro...

Re: 9 week old - bedtimes?

I know it is too late as you have bookes but as a heads up for others... when I initially put my name down for Commodore (before he was born) I researched local puppy classes. The one I went to was happy to let me sit in on a class to see if I agreed with the training methods. I did! Once he was bor...

Re: Little dog trapped in a big dogs body?!!

Commodore is very much a lap dog. An 8 month old, 30 kilo lap dog. It is cute, but somewhat flattening. Also, if I have been out of the house (or upstairs) for a while, when I come back to the room he is in, he will sit on me and gently but firmly hold my hand in his mouth. It is his way of showing ...

Re: 9 week old - bedtimes?

I used to leave C around 11pm, he would wake us whining at 4am and need to pee urgently, then go back to bed until hubby got up at 7. It gets easier quickly - right now their bladder is too small to hold much but in a month I reckon they will be dry overnight. If puppy pad is ok with you then I woul...

Re: Which clippers / how do I know which blades?

No, Helen, dont worry Im not going to do him all over! Just round his bits! He had a proper sanitary trim a while ago, but since then Ive been grooming him myself. I do most things with some supersharp scissors but they can cut through bone so I am loathe to use them round his bits in case he moves....
