Re: Running with your dog

Oh no, I just meant the brand, it's a really long lead (bought it for puppy classes when we were doing 'waits' etc.) that has a lot of give in it (it's a bit bungee like?). Baxter has never had to have one of those lead things round his nose. Is that what they are called? Sorry for the confusion :( ...

Re: Running with your dog

Hi Rachel :) I like to run, and when Baxter turned 1, I started to take him with me, he has a halti lead that I just hold in my hand. I could tie it round me but I think I'd struggle when he wants to stop and sniff etc. We only do about a 3 mile route but that takes us about 30 minutes or so on acco...

Re: Is there anything else I can try?

Hi Everyone :) I thought I would give it a good week and start ensuring I followed your extra advice for me before I came back……thought I would have some positives for you…….unfortunately not.  I’ve been reading the cues when he looks back and getting really excited, calling him back, liver in hand...

Re: Is there anything else I can try?

Thanks for getting back to me everyone!!! After we did our Bronze award Liz we started doing pre-agility classes rather than more obedience, thought it would be more fun for the two of us :D Baxter is very good here (apart from when he finishes his routine and feels the need to do laps of honour rou...

Is there anything else I can try?

Hi Everyone :) Baxter has just turned 1 and for the past few months his recall has been absolutely atrocious. It got to the point today where there were actually tears from me as it is becoming the case where it isn't a pleasure to take him out :( He was trained with the whistle from Day 1 of coming...

Re: Grooming Clippers - blades/combs - what a minefield

Ah YouTube is a grand idea Anne!! Aaaaaah :D I do love Baxter’s Fro.haha. Well I was thinking the Andis one’s because of his coat; I thought cheaper ones might not get through some of the tighter curls? But after having a look I do wonder whether I could get away with cheaper Wahl ones for pets? You...

Re: Grooming Clippers - blades/combs - what a minefield

Thanks Sue & Helen :D So the blade doesn't matter then, it's the combs that change the length? Is the number of the comb the inch of hair that would be left? I do remember the groomer saying 3 but I'm sure Baxter was left with much less than 3 inches of hair? Oh I'll have a look for a course, thanks...

Grooming Clippers - blades/combs - what a minefield

Hi Everyone :D I'd like to start grooming Baxter myself, he is a pretty chilled out dood so I reckon he would let me and I'm sure I would get better with practise :? I'd like to buy some Andis clippers (I'm sure they would earn their money back pretty quickly) but when it comes to the blades and com...

Re: Photos and doodle ages

Hi Michaela I'm no expert with the photo's but I upload them to photobucket (you will have to set up an account if you haven't one already), then you have to copy the IMG link of the photo in to the message, it's in code though, not the actual photo, so it will start with [URL= For the timeline at t...

Re: Ziggy has a lump

Sending lots of love to you all. I worry myself stupid over everything to do with my pets (god help me if I ever have children) so I can imagine what you must be feeling. Everything crossed for a fatty lump.

Meal time issues....again :(

Hi Everyone :D You may have read my post about the problems I was having with Baxter’s meal times. http://www.labradoodle.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=31605&start=15 Anyway, I ended up switching his food to Millie’s Wolfheart and I thought I had cracked it – he LOVED it!!! He was wolfing his me...

Re: Do I pander to his stubbornness?

Hi Everyone :D Just thought I'd let you know how I've been getting on with Baxter and his meal times!! So...the end of last week, he had a bout of sickness and diarrhea, as he's a pup I took him to the vets (was also worried something might be stuck as his sickness started with a large end of a nyla...

Re: Do I pander to his stubbornness?

Oh thank you for your replies everyone  I will stick with the not pandering then!! Yeah I do his meals with hot water Anne and he seems to eat more when it is like that but he still doesn’t eat all of it. I guess he is eating some of his food but I was worrying that it isn’t all. Maybe I should bri...

Do I pander to his stubbornness?

Hi Everyone :D I don't post too much as I hate using the laptop when I get home from work (having just spent the whole day at a PC.haha) and it's annoying having to use the forum on your phone and use the bucket thing for photos - would be great if this forum could get on the Tapatalk app or somethi...
