Re: Stairs

I don't think you're meant to let puppies go up and down stairs, due to their joints still forming. George never used to like stairs and we discouraged him from using them and carried him up and downstairs until he was too heavy to.

Re: New puppy owner

We would have loved him whatever, we wanted a bigger dog. Would have been difficult lifting him into the bath though!!

Re: HELP - the jumping up is becoming a nightmare

It is very difficult, George seems to be getting better at the jumping but is still very excitable. If he's bad I have a treat toy next to the door, which I put in VERY tasty treats (e.g. cheese, tuna) in and he has to figure out how to get them out. By the time he figures it out he has calmed down ...

Re: New puppy owner

Welcome, good luck with your little one, very cute! Just to say the vet said our George (a medium labradoodle supposedly lol) would be 40-50kgs fully grown when he was a puppy! He is nearly 2 now and seems to have settled just under 28kgs which we feel is a good weight for him. So a bit of a...

Re: Could use some advice from Labradoodle owners...

We both work full time now, but when we got George I was at home for the first 6 months which meant I could get him into a routine and settle him in. He needed a lot of time and attention as a puppy and is a real live wire and a clever chap, I don't think we could have managed that if we were both w...

Re: A Monster?!?!

This sounds very familiar! George is 18months and now 27.5kgs and about 25inches (very difficult to measure as he doesn't stay still!) but he is meant to be a medium. Yea right  We have a similar problem that he is still an excitable puppy really, just a big one. Can reach the backs of t...

Re: 2 days in...

Hi Peewee and Manasmum, Definitely challenging having a new puppy but stick with it! Only two days in so don't worry too much. George was also taught to go on paper but that went out the window when he came home. Some great advice here, I agree try not to let puppy play when outside for a wee and lo...

Re: New Puppy

Welcome Helen and Zack, Any pictures? George was meant to be a 'medium', he is now 27kg's and 24inches to the shoulder  just more to love. We wanted a bigger dog though, and he is still quite a lot smaller than the standard doodles we meet around here! o just to add, he was always around the sa...

Re: Itching!

George has also had really itchy front feet, mainly just below his ankle pad. We have bought him some little booties which stop his excessive licking he also looks very cute in them! He has been having half a piriton each day at the moment and his feet soaked in camomile tea and geranium tea (...

George was exactly the same. Just lots of consistent training and he seems to be maturing now, although still has his odd moment!

Re: scruffy coat

George would probably also be a scruffy, he is a bit wooly/fleecy underneath though. I generally give him a good brush once a week, but when he has gone through coat changes it is more. He does matt more now than he did when he was a puppy too.

Re: kicking out back legs and chewing on feet

Something could just have irritated her? George had itchy feet a few times after going up the local field. I think maybe they had put something on the grass. I used to just soak his feet in warm camomile tea in the bath, seemed to work! Hopefully it isn't too serious. I'm sure others will have some ...
