Re: nasty incident in park

Hi,sorry to hear about your experience.Unfortunately there are no hard and fast rules about how other dogs off lead will react. As a trainer I see this situation a lot.The main point is although your confidence is a bit dented after the incident this may never happen again and so as not to let your n...

Re: Barking!

Hi,as a trainer my advice would be to seek the help of a Behaviourist in you area.I've dealt with this problem on many occasions and although success can never be a guarantee in any Dog/Human situation the methods I use are simple, easy for the dog and owner to understand and most importantly, short a...

Re: Introducing to a crate

If the crate is too big try blocking off a section with board or a piece of wood, they can get a bit lost if there is too much space in the crate.Remember its not a play area but more a sanctuary for them to feel secure in.Always keep an eye on him in the early stages in case he gets a bit frantic.It...

Re: Introducing to a crate

Hi,have a look at my post on crate training in the training section.Hope it helps,in the car make the crate a fun place to be,play games, lots of toys, some clothing with your scent for security.Short trips to begin with ,lots of fuss and encouragement, nothing negative.Good luck.

Re: Crufts

Totally agree, the state of some pedigree dogs is appalling.Speaking of which what on earth was it that won the Toy class, looked like it was on wheels.Apologies to all lovers of what ever it was.

Re: Anyone used animal friends insurance?

Just my opinion but I don't think you can beat Pet Plan.My 10 month old pup has had two life threatening illnesses,Pet Plan could not have dealt with the claims better.

Re: Gulping food

Try not to worry about your puppy eating his food very quickly. This is a normal way for dogs to eat and will not harm him.Remember that all dogs started out as wild animals that we domesticated,if you watch any wildlife programme on TV if an animal makes a kill it will eat very quickly before any ri...

Ice and Toes

Now that winter is here just a quick point about under foot conditions when we take our dogs onto frosty or snowy ground. While they are running around having a great time it is very easy for the frost or snow to become compacted between their pads, when you leave to go home this can give the impressi...
