Labraddodles on allotments..?

Hi everyone, After literally years of waiting I've got an allotment which I am very pleased about. But I also have a very bouncy labradoodle who I don't want to leave at home. Has anyone one else taken their doodle along while they are gardening? Any advice? I was thinking of getting a running tethe...

Re: Chewing toe nails

HELP! Milo just chews his nails now - he doesn't chew his paws anymore. I am worrying because he sits and crunches on his nails at least once a day for at least 30 minutes. He has a strong bite and can desiccate a leather dog-chew in minutes so I have in my mind that he is making his nails fragile. ...

Chewing toe nails

My dog Milo has lately started chewing his toe nails. At first he chewed his toes, and I took him to the vet and she said he probably was developing an allergy to something in the grass and antihistamines might work - they did seem to. He stopped chewing the fur off his feet. But now he chews his na...

Rare - I almost have a feeling of puppy-training success....

I have been struggling with my clever doodle for the past weeks. Once over 14 months he became a teenage terror. When he was bored he'd bark at me, jump up and hit me with his big paws (knocked me clean over once), and bite my bottom. I got to the stage when I was really thinking I was not a good en...

Lurning curves....?

Hi My 18 month old is always looking around the house for interesting "things". Today Milo found a yellow finger that had been cut off my washing-up gloves. While I wash up this happens sometimes but I don't know how so I can't predict it. Anyway, next I knew I saw a flash of yellow in his mouth as ...

Re: Puppy fur?

Hi y'all This is very interesting. My 18 month three parts poodle / one part lab was also by five months starting to get dread-locks, and still does sometimes. But I have been home-grooming slowly, and he is now curly-wavy and not very poodle-like. Our regime took him a while to buy in to because ea...

Barking as a demand

Please advise My dog is moving on to another phase. He now is barking AT me. He sits in the garden staring at me. If I don't "entertain" him (training or cuddling) he begins to bark. He is very good at barking to defend his house or warn of visitors. I can talk to him about those moments and the bar...

cutting nails

Please, has anyone got advice about how I as a single owner of a very bouncy and wiggley 17 month old, can by myself clip his nails? I managed a little clip off the end of a couple of his nails by distracting him with a dog chew, but he decided he didnt like the sensation and has remembered the clip...

How to "untrain" a dog?

Hi, Milo has learnt that I don't like him to sit and bark in the garden (good) but has started to use use that to get a biscuit (bad). We live on the side of a hill and he hears dogs barking across the valley and his barking was originally him answering them. Then he started barking at birds, and ca...

Re: My 8 month labradoodle has loads and loads of grey hair!

I agree with other people. My dear little 15 month dark chocolate labradoodle has about 30 white hairs just above his tail but nowhere else. I don't think it's aging. It's just a cross-breed thing because his dad was an apricot poodle. He also has golden eyebrows and mane and ear-edges, and mushroom...

Fences for labradoodles - how high and the best type?

Hi, I'm moving house and thinking of fences. The house I am moving to has low hedges so something has to be done because my dog Milo can bounce high although he is a mini-labradoodle. He is also very determined. He hasn't yet jumped over a fence, but he has never been in a garden next to a road befo...

Re: Mad labradoodle teenager - advice needed

Oh Oh he is moving to a new phase without leaving the old one. In addition to all the pre-described high-energy behaviour on returning from a walk, he is is now also doing bouncy-barking at me, where he goes low on his front paws with his bottom in the air and hops around me woofing. If that doesnt ...

Mad labradoodle teenager - advice needed

Milo is a 15 months F2 miniature doodle - 12kg and about 18inches to the shoulder. He is loving and funny and clever and very athletic. He is also a bundle of fluffy madness. In many ways he is calming down: jumps up less, and on walks is always checking / aware of where I am, and returns to whistle...
