Re: Found dog in Derbyshire
What a day - do hope the dog is reconciled soon. Somebody has just sent me this link though because of the lost budgerigar. There is a special register for lost parrots and other companion birds run by John Hayward, telephone no 01869 325699. If the budgie is ringed it will be helpful to give John t...

Re: Prayers & healing thoughts for Huggy
Oh Linny - I am devastated for you and Alan and all the family.....Losing a dog is always terrible but losing one so young is a huge shock and a sadness. Take comfort from knowing you gave him a wonderful home and he gave you - and all of us - so much laughter when we heard of his latest exploits. L...

Re: doodle seizures
Although I don't post on here now, I do sometimes read the forum and was very sad indeed to read Dilly's story. Jodie and Bid are quite correct in that Rufus has had a couple of seizures and I dealt with all the issues in this thread in the hope that it might help others http://www.labradoodle.org.u...

Re: Poorly Percy Poo :(
I have sent you a pm, Vicky, with the telephone number of an epilepsy support group. The woman who runs it is very knowledgeable. You might also like to get hold of a book which has some interesting thoughts on epilepsy (and lots of other subjects) which was recommended by Frosty; The Holistic Guide ...

Re: Poorly Percy Poo :(
I wondered that... what food is it? How is he on chicken? Trouble is it'd be difficult to change him over... i also wondered, if you have a phone which films, could you film it next time to show the vet? hope you find a solution soon, poor little thing. May I just say that it would not be a good id...

Re: Poorly Percy Poo :(
Hello Vicky; I have just read your thread and seen Cecilia's suggestion that you pm me. You are very welcome to do so if you think I can help in any way. I am very sorry to hear of Percy's problems. It might help to read the thread I posted about Rufus who had a fit a year ago. We had hoped that thi...

Re: Eaten a bar of Chocolate
Personally I would ring the vet for advice as some dogs are very much more liable to become ill than others and poisoning by chocolate can take a day or two to manifest itself. If it had been dark chocolate it would have been more worrying but I think it's best not to take any risks. Hope all is wel...

Re: Need advice about poorly Doodle
I agree with Bid; if he isn't drinking he will quickly become dehydrated and needs to see the vet as a matter of some urgency. Are his gums pale ? Personally I wouldn't try to tempt him to eat anything until you have had professional advice just in case he has a blockage and needs some form of anaes...

Re: I have to have a rant - I'm really upset now
I think this is an area fraught with difficulties and it is a shame that other dog owners can't be more supportive; picking up small dogs is generally a silly thing to do.... However, it is true that some small dogs have been injured by very boisterous dogs of disparate sizes juming on them and it i...

Re: How late can seasons be?
I wouldn't worry about late starts to seasons but I would mention it to the vet if they hadn't had a season by about 18 months.
Small breed dogs generally mature earlier than the large and tend to have their first season before they are a year old but they are all individuals.....

Looks like a very memorable (and expensive for some

Re: Choke chains?
I have never used a choke chain on any of my dogs nor any kind of harness. The APDT have a very good leaflet on choke chains explaining exactly why they do not recommend their use http://www.apdt.co.uk/pdfs/Choke_Chain_leaflet.pdf I agree with Bid that consistent training and a great deal of patienc...
