UKLA in 2009

I have just been looking back through the last year and realise what an important year it has been for the posters on this site. Some things have been very positive, the beefed up Code of Practice gives good guidelines to buyers who would be well advised to print it out when they visit a litter and ...

Re: Noodle on pets 4 homes

She is one of Foxisle's breeding bitches, you only have to google to see the extensive number of litters and breeds there are. I wish her better luck in the future. I trust she will be speyed as they say.
TBH The breeding is relentless, and the numbers requiring rescue ever increasing. :(

Re: The Bateson report

I'm very sad that the opportunity to push for the banning of 3rd party sales of young puppies has been lost. It is all very well bemoaning the dreadful conditions in the Irish and Welsh puppy farms but it is the sale of puppies through dealers and pet shops that keep these appalling businesses alive...

The Bateson report

http://breedinginquiry.files.wordpress.com/2010/01/final-dog-inquiry-120110.pdf I've only just got this and with 64 pages to read, I have just pulled out a couple of sections a. All pre-mating tests for inherited disease appropriate to the breed or breeds are undertaken on both parents. b. No mating...

Re: Worried about Dotty, back to the vets tomorrow.

If she has not already been treated for lungworm then it should be done, vets that haven't seen it before in their area are missing it, and that can be very dangerous.

Re: Has anyone had dealings with Little Rascals, please?

re Little Rascals http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/against-puppy-farms-in-the-uk This petition is now closed but worth reading. It has been the subject of BBC investigation. http://www.thisislincolnshire.co.uk/news/Breeder-puppy-farm/article-764677-detail/article.html I am CERTAIN there are better p...

Re: Blues Day in the Snow!

No they are not cold because they have long coats on all the important bits, Merry feels it more as he is in a short all over pet clip, he jogged around the block with dad and then went back gratefully to the lounge fire. Its bally cold out there Image

Re: Blues Day in the Snow!

Lovely to see pictures of dogs having fun in the snow, those are great photos! Dogs often take fright at snowmen, its funny really and by the time they accept them the snow has gone. Just taken some video clips over the road, sea, sand and snow. The sand is lovely for them when there is snow everywh...

Re: All breeders in the UK to be registered ?

Interesting thoughts, Adam. I am really looking forward to concrete proposals on this. Surely, where there is a will there is a way, it's very sad that puppies and kittens are still sold in this country from pet shops. Caring pet owners and breeders all need to be involved in this discussion.

Re: Aggression from other dogs, advice needed

I've found a blast on a whistle can interrupt bad behaviour but that does "punish" both dogs. You might like to consider pet corrector spray just to carry for emergencies.

Re: All breeders in the UK to be registered ?

It is simple enough to stop a canine pregnancy, but yes there would need to be provisions to cover such an eventuality. Thank you Adam, I agree, any legislation needs to be about dogs, not pedigree or cross breed or mongrel. Thanks also for your support but frankly as regards records, I'm inundated....
