Re: A new dog does help when you think nothing will

Maisie is a joy but seems naughtier than Phoebe but maybe like children we forget those early years. She has chewed through quite a few things and really pesters our four year old cat. Always trying to wash him and cuddle him. Mind you he did that to Phoebe as a kitten so it's payback time. Think it...

Re: A new dog does help when you think nothing will

Thanks. Took me a few hours to remember how to upload a photo but finally got there. Losing Phoebe was awful and I thought I'd never love another dog like her again but Maisie is gradually growing into a wee cracker and has that doodle look which you can't ignore. Also likes to lie across my feet to...

A new dog does help when you think nothing will

Been a few years since I posted as couldn’t bear seeing all the gorgeous doodles after we lost Phoebe. After a year we decided to get another dog and found a lovely Australian labradoodle puppy near us that we bought. We called her Maisie and she is now 15 months old and starting to settle. I’d forg...

Re: Goodbye to Phoebe

Thanks for all kind thoughts and messages. It's been a month now but I am still heartbroken and think of her every day and still expect to be welcomed by her when I return home. I have had 5 dogs and was sad with all of them passing but I think doodles are extra special and maybe one day I will get ...

Goodbye to Phoebe

Our beautiful Phoebe doodle passed away on Monday after having been lame for sometime which we thought was caused by arthritis but turned out to be a nerve sheaf tumour. She was almost 10. The light of our lives and loved by everyone. She worked as a PATherapy dog for 4 years and made everyone smile...

Re: Bald patches in coat

Wow surprised you remembered us as a long time ago. She calmed down a lot after we stopped going to the classes. I've been trying flax seed oil but might give coconut oil a go. Been brushing her coat to try and stimulate it. Not sure what it's going to look like when I clip her for the summer. Poor ...

Bald patches in coat

My nine year old doodle has developed some very thin hair patches on her sides and back. Hair around neck and legs is quite thick. Has had blood tests etc and nothing wrong. Otherwise seems fine if a bit creaky with age. Been trying flax oil but not really helping. Is this just an age thing?

Re: Jumping and Biting?

Reading this really took me back to when Phoebe was about 2. It was almost like she had gone mad and not great on wet day when I was covered with muddy paw marks. I felt it was like a teenage/toddler tantrum when I thwarted her wishes or put her on the lead when she wanted to run. I got frustrated w...

Re: My sweet boy Mac died tonight

We lost one of our male cats a few weeks ago he suddenly went down hill with kidney problems. . He was 18 and all black so very similar to yours. He had a brother and they had been together every day for all that time. Now Henry seems lost and is still looking around when we feed him and sitting out...

Re: Ziggy's Lump update

My labradoodle has a small lump on her chest near front leg. We had it tested and it's just a fatty lump. It may get bigger so we are just keeping an eye on it. If it gets bigger then our vet says it can be removed. Apparently they are quite common and if removed often return anyway so best leave un...

Re: Phoebe's going for assessment as a PAT dog

My Phoebe has been a PAT dog for over 3 years. We waited until she calmed down a bit and she loves everyone making a fuss of her but I think enjoys hoovering up biscuit crumbs under the seats etc even more. I'm a coordinator now and enjoy getting people started. There is a great clip on the website ...

Re: Anyone who has a cat.

That makes me feel a bit better so there is hope for poor old Henry and at last he has eaten a bit today. To correct something I wrote before. I said the family said I was silly. It wasn't because I was sad as we all were,it was that I was saying Henry was missing his brother and looking for him as ...

Re: Anyone who has a cat.

Thanks for replies. We are just a bit surprised as they never were that nice to each other and did fight on occasions. The odd thing is that when Jaspers was ill, Henry and him lay together in the dog basket which was really odd. I did try some chicken last night which he ate a little bit of. Also s...

Anyone who has a cat.

Although this is generally a dog site I wondered if anyone could help with a cat query. We have a labradoodle who is fine. Also had 2 cats. Brothers we got from same litter 18 yrs ago. One became very poorly last week and after visit to vet we decided it was better to let him go as he was very sick....

Re: Scratching dog .

Phoebe had terrible itch with light kibble type food as I was trying to get her weight down. Then had almost anaphylactic shock with last injection. This was a first although one component had changed this year . Had to stay in at vets as so bad. Luckily vaccine suppliers paid for the bill as vet to...
