Re: Optrex Infected eyes

To be honest I wouldn't use Optrex drops/ointment or anything else in eyes (human or canine). I work as a practice nurse and the vast majority of people do not seem to realise that our own tears are very good at being antimicrobial and if we put something else in we wash out our own best defence. C...

Re: Eating too quickly

Hello The bolting of kibble type food is worrying, big lump of stuff in stomach that needs soaking and a danger of bloat. There are ways to slow the eating of this stuff, but a better idea is to wean your dog onto food he actually has to chew. Lots of benefits, nice clean strong teeth, lots less poo...

Re: Sterilised Bones

Hi I know it goes against the grain, but I don't give my dogs the big weightbearing bones. They can actually break/crack their teeth on them. And I have had it happen in the past and steer well clear. My very nice butcher supplies me with beef rib bones with some meat left on. They get good teeth cl...

Re: Help with Logans ears ....

Had big probs when we got our pup, she came with the sorest ears. Was advised by the vet to regularly clean after the medication to clear up everything, bugs and fungus etc. But the cleaning stuff they prescribed, just dried her ears out so much she had to have an op to remove the impacted dried wax...

Re: Optrex Infected eyes

I have regularly used optrex to wash out our dogs eyes, to good effect. And golden eye ointment too for gungy eyes. It's one area I am sure is okay to use on dogs, the stuff you put in your own eyes has to be safe and gentle.

Bye

Re: Bum wiping (sorreeeeeeee!!!! )

If he has got full anal glands, Lucy, then they can be helped to empty by giving him a bone - ask a butcher for marrow bones suitable for dogs and NEVER cooked ones. It firms up the poo and pushes against the anal glands in passing so they empty naturally. Hi we feed raw food (www.rawmeatybones.com)...

Re: Bum wiping (sorreeeeeeee!!!! )

Worth doing a good worming, it can be a sign of tape worm infestation. Process of elimination really, and the anal glands can be a bit of a bother to them.. This is a good link to look for worm info. I was looking up tape worms as our lab did have one and wondered what the cause could be. http://www...

Re: Worried about Bramble

Sounds so suspicious like the spaying has caused a problem. Pity she can't be scanned to see if anything is amiss, would this be possible?
I do hate it when pills are given to try and solve something when the actual problem isn't identified.

You have my sympathy, do hope things improve.

Re: Using a recall whistle...?

We happened to have some sheepdog whistles we'd bought for fun (I know) yrs ago. And found that our lively hunting mini doodle responded really well. Obviously you use it at home to call to breakfast lunch and dinner - and any other time you feel the need for company. The ultimate lure to go with it...

Re: Is My Dood Miniature or not??

Arianne has a min poodle dad and her mum was a lab x min poodle. At about 17-18 wks she was 10k 31 wks 14.6k and about 17" Didn't keep a proper record of her height. Seemed to stop growing by about 11 mths and has filled out a bit. Is 16.4 k and 18.5" at 13 months. Is that about right for a mini or ...

Sorry, still hasn't worked.

I just right click on the link in photobucket and choose copy from the drop down menu. Then paste it here.

Better luck next time.

Re: Fussy eater not putting on weight

There's not many creatures that are daft enough to starve themselves to death. We have days when Arianne isn't that bothered about food. I just pick it up and give it next meal. We changed over to the the raw diet some time ago and once she was used to actually chewing her food, we haven't looked ba...
