Long live the Halti!
We've been using it for over a year now after Barley pulled so hard that I ended up with ligament damage. It works like a dream and she even walks 'normally' when on an ordinary lead now as she's so used to having to behave when on the Halti.[img]

Re: When to Spay??
Had Barley spayed last Monday. As previously discussed there will be reasons for doing it before and after the first season. What also confused me most was which op to go for ...lap or midline? Anyhow, we went for the midline (sister in law a vet so able to take good advice) and I have to say she (l...

Re: Embarrassingly over excited!
Just re-reading this post and thinking how far Barley's come (nearly 11 months old ) since writing it. Barley is still prone to getting a wee bit excited when anyone comes to the house (a new house now) and when we come home from being out. She's learned that she has to sit in order to get any atten...

Re: Embarrassingly over excited!
Thank you for your replies. I don't think we encouraged her to jump up, etc, when much younger. My mother had a lab who did this which was very annoying and I positively stopped this from day one! We purposely play down her excitement by ignoring her in the am when we get up (tips from the dog whisp...

Embarrassingly over excited!
My dood Barley (7 mths) is driving us potty when she meets anyone (this can be in the house, on a walk, on the lead, off the lead) as she almost bursts with excitement. Even if she sits down she tries to paws the person (all very friendly but desparate for contact). Her claws are really strong (not ...

I am also investigating the lap or midline spay options.
My vet does do the lap spay but it is about £100 more expensive! I know I maybe should go for the best recovery option for my dog but I'm also thinking about the finances!
I'm still undecided.

Re: Dillon Swimming!
Oh what fun! Our Barley (now nearly 6 months) also starting swimming this weeked in the Thames. We threw a stick further and further out until she had to swim. She then started to ignore the stick and then went on a little joy-swim to inspect the ducks...she even dived in at one point ...it was hila...

Re: Waldo very sick to stay in Vets On Drip
I'm sorry to hear about the puppies that aren't well, it's really upsetting to read. I also just wanted to say that thank God that these puppies have been bought by such loving and caring families who will nuture them back to health at any cost. Imagine if they had been reared by puppy farmers who m...

Re: How do you feed your dog/s?
I have tried taking her food away but then she just doesn't seem fussed! Anyway, she's a very well behaved dood generally so I'll play it by ear for now.
Thanks

Re: How do you feed your dog/s?
Was going to ask about feeding habits as my dood does something I find a little strange. She gets fed purina puppy food (dry). She has her food in a bowl next to her water bowl but she always picks out a mouthful of biscuits and takes them over to the door mat, sits and eats them and then runs back ...

Re: Newbie questions -- chancing it on asthma, and home alone
I also did some thorough research on low allergy dogs before getting our doodle. I am allergic to animals in varying degrees, horses being the worst. I grew up on a farm surrounded by animals so I know my tolererance levels really well. When we got Barley I knew I'd have a few weeks of wheezing and ...

Re: Another broken cat flap!
This story has just had myself and OH in stitches! Our doodle has enjoyed going through the cat flap until she got too big for it and now can only just get her head through it. (Amazing, it took us two weeks to train the cat to use it but the doodle pup gets the gist in less than one day without any...

New members......Barley and me.
Just to say hi and introduce ourselves. We (myself, husband and 18 year old daughter) have recently acquired Barley who is a 4 month old female. We are really enjoying our first labradoodle and just can't believe what a great dog she is. I'm enjoying reading all the posts and seeing what may be in s...
