Aaagh, rats! We had one die in the roof space of the kitchen! It smelled atrocious :( :( :( , and taking the ceiling down to extract the corpse was :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( horrific! Trouble is, the blasted things are every where. I'm with Pollydoodle - don't leave anything around that they can ea...
Yup, we've rented gites and we've camped and we've loved it. You need to be a tad wary about cottages 'accepting' dogs but charging some massive fee (especially if you've got two dogs!). The French are really good about dogs in Restaurants and Cafes, and (like here) they often want to stop and chat ...
I reckon King Charles spaniels are about as easy as it gets-the ones I know seem to be amazingly relaxed and well-behaved. I think the breed has some inbred health problems but what breed doesn't? I don't know any cavapoos but I guess they might have too much poo! Hope that's helpful - I understand ...
Yeah, bewildering, isn't it? Sometimes it seems to me that the more breed-obsessed only ask what 'breed' our doods are so that they can have a go about designer mongrels (or whatever!). I just try not to let it get to me.

Hi Poppygreen, We wondered about a second dog, and we fostered for Labradoodle Trust for a while, which reassured us that Leon was fine having another dog around. Eventually we adopted an ex-foster whose permanent home cratered and that's been fine. If Poppy's very young, I wouldn't be in too much o...
Hi Elmo,
Obviously, the dog from Cambridgeshire is going to be in foster with LT for a while (they'll be getting her spayed) but she'll be up for re-homing when she's ready. If you know people who'd like to adopt a doodle, LT have a steady stream of dogs needing forever homes.

Yes, I'm sure Bid's right: when they hit puberty they stop growing, so if you delay castration until after puberty your dog is likely to be shorter (but maybe stockier!). Nothing to stop you castrating after puberty of course.

Sally's part camel, too, but with her it's the long skinny legs with enormous feet on the end! Looking at Lulu's age (11m) it's probably just that she's stopped growing, so she doesn't need as much food. I'd reduce food quantity until she's eating up, provided she's ok otherwise and isn't losing wei...
Leon isn't one to hold a grudge, but Sally is definitely cross if she's left behind. The biggest sulk we ever achieved was with our first dog, Clem (this was about 30 years ago). We went to Paris for the weekend and left Clem with Claire's mum. When we got back we imagined he'd be thrilled to see us...
Hi Garry, welcome to UKLA. Yes, labradoodles certainly are great dogs, but they quite often wind up getting re-homed because people just don't realise what a lot of time they're going to need to commit. The other thing that causes problems is small kids getting flattened and/or chewed, so I hope you...
