Re: Holidays without our precious doodles

Lottie goes to doggie day care and they have them for holiday stays too. When we went away for 10 days last year, Lottie didn't really care that we were back, she was too busy playing with the other dogs and in the straw in the stables to miss us! Going away for 2 weeks in the summer and thankfully ...

Re: Scooby and the stair carpet! Help!!!

I expect it's a scab which needs picking to a dog unfortunately.

Could you put a baby gate up to keep him away from the stairs so just has the hallway at night

Re: Good bonkers, or bad bonkers?

Having a dog is like any relationship, good days and bad days and you just have to get through it. Puppies try your patience (Lottie certainly tried mine esp as she was my first ever dog) but she's lovely now and wouldn't be without her :D Definitely recommend a few weeks of puppy class or puppy agi...

Re: Cardboard boxes

give it a go. as long as there isn't any tape or staples in it she will be fine. Lottie has ripped up plenty of boxes (and shoes) and toys over time and it's always been OK. A cardboard box has to be better than skirting boards! (yep, had a bit of that replaced too! )

Re: Free to good home...

just had a look through preloved out of interest and it's absolutely shocking how many people are rehoming puppies who they've had for a couple of weeks! No idea why the pups can't go back to the breeder (other than being a terrible breeder and I'm sure there are plenty of them) but what is wrong wi...

Re: Good bonkers, or bad bonkers?

Totally agree with Mandy! Lottie did used to sofa bounce when she was a puppy (that is jumping from sofa to sofa and god help anyone who got in the way! ) and she LOVES LOVES LOVES playing still (she's 3). When she is with kids she is calm and brilliant with them, so very perceptive too. Havin...

Re: Took Luna off the lead

we worked on the basis that if it's less of a big deal to be off lead then she'll come back. Lottie is 90% very good now (she's 3). It's just lots of hard work of calling back and giving treats and praise and not loosing the will to live when they won't come back! I think every doodle has run ...

Re: Took Luna off the lead

We taught Lottie "lead on" so she (in theory) comes to us to have her lead put on. It does work sometimes! Saw a man do it to his dog and thought it sounded a good idea! It might be worth just saying it every time you put her lead on, you never know, it might work occasionally! (usually more e...

Re: will it stop?

not sure how old your doodle is, but when Lottie was young mental exercise used to wear her out. just make her follow you around the lounge with a treat, sit, stand, lay, paw etc.

We play fetch in the house with lottie, just throw a ball around for her and that helps.

Re: Looking for a dog boarder in Essex

Lottie goes to Millie's Playmates who are brilliant. She goes regularly for day care and stayed for 2 weeks last summer and a couple of weekend stays too. Last time she went she was too busy tucking into a yummy dinner they had given her to notice I was there!! www.milliesplaymates.co.uk I'm fussy a...

Re: Dog ate raisins

I think that's that same drug Lottie had and it was £80 ish. The consulting fee was something stupid like £130 cos it was out of hours. Not entirely sure how that's £250...maybe a cleaning up fee too!
