Re: Rawhide- fattening?

Yes! rawhide is extremely fattening as are pigs ears etc. Giving a raw bone from the butcher's will keep her busy much longer and is great for the teeth too.
Or you could cut down slightly on her food if you want to feed her chews and keep her weight down.

Re: What's the worst thing....

I've been incredibly lucky (or strict!) with all my dogs and they've never chewed anything except their own toys. Never put citronella or similar on anything either. In our old house our neighbours had 2 German Shepherds who wrecked the whole house while they were at work. Thinking they might be enc...

Re: Furious!

Wow! That poster really is great! Should be a copy in every school and every park.
In fact we could do with a copy stuck up at home - my kids are serial dog cuddlers and swoop in for a hug at any time which is fine with Monty but (as I keep trying to tell them) not with all dogs!

Furious!

Walking Monty in the forest this afternoon when we crossed the path of a couple and their little girl of about 4. When she saw Monty she began to scream and ran towards her dad who said "Watch out, that big dog wants to eat you!" At this point (as you might imagine) she began screaming even louder a...

Re: It's not me it's bl**dy autocorrect

Seen on the side of a van today: " Mukky Paw's Dog Walker's - there for dog's when there owner's can't be" AARGH!
Took a photo I was so horrified! Wonder how much they paid to have that painted on their van?!

Re: Holiday!

You're sure to have a ball! We've been to Forest Holidays for the past 2 years with all the kids and dog and everyone has really enjoyed themselves. Watch out for the hottub though - we had all just settled down in ours when Monty decided with one flying leap to join us! Don't know who was more surp...

Re: Caravanning tips please!

Sounds exciting. We camp sometimes but in a tent (hate it but my 3 boys adore it..!) A caravan sounds much more civilised. The thing I find useful when camping is a stake-out for the dog - sort of metal corkscrew which you plant in the ground outside the tent so the dog can be outside and wander a b...

Re: Haircut ?

I love Monty to look scruffy but he really feels the heat badly. I know it's time for a haircut when he seeks out the coolest spot to sleep (on the floor boards next to the front door!) and runs straight into the river/sea on a walk and lies down in the water. I have him shaved completely to the ski...

Wow - brilliant photos. Your dogs are so photogenic. I just love the one where they're both jumping, how on earth did you take that?!

Re: Stout - Busted!

What a laugh! I noticed in Pets at Home this morning that they have a "naughty pets" photo comp on at the moment and you can win vouchers. Stout's bin raiding shame would be sure to win!

Re: Still barking!

If it is a fairly recent problem it could be that she is getting hot and uncomfortable in the crate, especially if she has a thick coat. I have noticed over that over the past few nights Monty (who has the living room and hall at night, no crate) starts off the night in his bed but moves to the cool...

Re: Is it possible to stop him stealing??

YES! Just be super-strict and let him know it isn't allowed. I caught Monty in the act of eating OH's dinner which I'd plated up and left on the worktop. End of a stressful day and it was the last straw - he got a massive telling off, I was very angry and he knew it!! He has never stolen anything ag...
