Re: Where is everyone?

Hello! We're only just in North Wales, to be honest. A village called Bronington, mid-way between Chester and Shrewsbury. Portmeirion gets you like that - the urge to tell them you're not a number is pretty strong! Love Porthmadog, Sarah, though we have a tendency to head to Anglesey if we want the ...

Re: Where is everyone?

Hello everyone!

Not sure if anyone remembers us, but we're in North Wales and have two doods - Stan the mini is now 8 and George our heffalump will be 6 next month.

I've not been on for a while, but thought the other day that I should check in and see how everyone is doing

Re: Pampered Pooch

I really hope our two don't see this! At the moment they have to make do with the squirty gun on the hosepipe, unless it's really cold and then they get sponged over with a bucket of warm water!

Happy birthday, gorgeous boy!

Love the pic of him scurrying after the big boys. I can almost hear Amos yelling "wait for me!"

Re: Upset tummy

Potato might be a better option than rice, some dogs can be sensitive to the rice. Some natural goat's yogurt might be helpful too, to restore some of the friendly bacteria.

Hope Jazz is feeling better soon!

Re: Has everyone abandoned ship?

We're still here too (for what we're worth!)!!

I guess I've always been a bit more of a lurker than a thread initiator. Also, like Glenda, I'm less in need of solace and advice now that the boys are 4 and 6!

Re: Pet friendly holidays?

Hello,

Yes, George is our F2 cream/mud coloured boy. He's the fluffy white pup and then the spiral curled 1 year-old in the photos.

Looking at your picture of Louis, I'd say he could end up looking fairly similar to George.

It's one of those, out of the door, cross the lane and you're on the beach cottages

Re: Hello from a prospective novice Labradoodle owner!

Hi Nick, Welcome to the crazy world of doodles! We have a standard (George, coming up to 4 years old), and a mini (Stan, just past 6 years old). Stan's a first generation cross working lab / miniature poodle and about 14" to the shoulder. He's fairly sloth-like most of the time in the house, but get...

Re: Pepperoni passion...

Stan's piece de resistance was finishing off a box of Thornton's special toffee on his first Christmas with us!

George managed to snaffle Simon's cheese roll off the table, without moving the plate, and leaving the cucumber behind!

Re: What's in a name?

Well, George got called George because a friend looked at him and decided that he looked like a George, and it stuck! Stan had to be Stan because at the time we had Ollie (apologies to anyone under 40, you may not get that one!). And Ollie, well, he was named after Oliver Cromwell because we'd watch...

Re: Afraid Of The Rain

I hate to disappoint you, but it may not just be a puppy stage thing! We've two doodles, Stan is 5 and will sit out in the pouring rain for as long as you'll let him. George, who is 3, will look out of the door and then give you a look that says "but it's wet!" before having to be dragged out for a ...

Re: 6 month old off the lead?

Hi Chrissy, It is scary, but definitely worth it, particularly if they're doodle dashing with other doodles! We've always been lucky enough to have a reasonably well trained (for that read gluttonous treat-focused) older dog. So, when you recall the older dog and give them a treat, the pup has alway...

Re: gun dogs?

Labradoodles can indeed be trained as gun dogs! Our George's dad, who rejoices in the name of Ollie, is a fully trained and very effective gun dog. Not sure George himself is bright enough to be one, though   That said, when we take our two out in the fields you can see them looking for t...

Re: scruffy coat

Hi Peggy, The scruffy coat tends to be seen on F1 labradoodles. It's 'harder' than a fleecy coat and more prone to shedding. Our mini-dood Stan is a scruffy and has a lovely wavy, scruffy look with fab eyebrows and a great beard. He does shed, but nowhere near as much as a Labrador! Here's Stan http...
