Re: Sick Doodle
Sorry to hear Doogle is poorly. How old is he? I only ask because Stout was really poorly when he was 3 and a half. He was really sick and was not eating. We took him to the vet several times over the course of a week. The vet had said he had a bug and gave him antibiotics. We eventually said we wan...

Re: Coughing dog
Hi. Sorry to hear he is poorly. Stout had kennel cough in September - despite being vaccinated. After a few days of treatment he was as right as rain. Hope your furry one is better soon

Re: Please tell me its a phase!
Hi. Stout was a proper pain in the bum when he was a pup. He ate 3 holes in the living room wall, was constantly covered in mud, deaf to commands, a counter surfer etc. He calmed down a bit when he was 18 months old, literally over night, we were seriously thinking he was ill. He is now 8 and has a ...

Kennel cough
Hi. Poor Stout is recovering from a bout of kennel cough. Last week he went to bark and let out a very unusual deep version, which gradually got worse. He doesn't tend to bark a lot so not sure how long he had it for! We took him to the vet who said they could still get a mild strain even after bein...

Re: Spleen Tumour
Hi Sarah. Sorry for the lateness of my post. So sorry to hear about Merlin, big hugs to you. One of stouts pals Milo has just crossed the bridge too, he had liver cancer. I am sure the two of them will be carrying on their doodly antics in doggy heaven.

Re: Where is everyone?
Thanks Kathie. We thought Stout would be the same in a room full of his hooman buddies. We were going to get the best man to bring him in, but he is our least dog friendly friend, so chris ended up doing it. He only barked once in the ceremony, but when he came and sat with us he was fine. He also m...

Re: Where is everyone?
Hi! I am still here, I check the forum once a week. I wasn't very active last year after my breast cancer diagnosis, thankfully all treatment finished now, and don't have to go back for a year. Chris and I finally got married in january after 25 years together, stout was our ring bearer and was amaz...

Re: How cold is cold
Stout doesn't seem to feel the cold and will leap into icy puddles/lakes. I think he has a double coat and although the outside bit stays wet for a while the bit nearest his skin dries really quickly, maybe that helps to keep him toasty. Our friends working cocker spaniel gets cold quickly, we were ...

Re: Acid Reflux?
We have also been told about b12 by our vet. Stout's ibd apparently makes it harder for him to absorb it especially if he is having a flare up. Stout has 2 sachets of pro kolin enterogenic powder a day (he can't have the paste as it is thickened with cornflour) I notice that they have changed it rec...

Re: Acid Reflux?
Hi. We have been giving stout golden paste, we started coz he was licking his leg rather than for his belly problems (inflammatory bowel disease), chris has been taking it for his arthritis and said it is helping. Stout is fed 3 times a day and he has been having a third of a teaspoon stirred into e...

Re: Acid Reflux?
Bless his little cotton socks, thank goodness it was 'only' something he had snaffled, what a relief. Give him a tickle behind the ear from us. They really are such a worry! Stout seems to be a lot less sick now we have sorted out his diet and cut out the what feels like a million things that upset ...
