Barking

Winnie has started barking a lot more! Her triggers are the door bell, knocking and seeing next door on the drive (through the glass in the kitchen door). She used to bark when she heard the door bell or someone knocked and stopped when she saw who it was and settled back down. Now she barks for qui...

First season

We have decided not to have Winnie spayed until she is fully grown. When do you think that would be? I was thinking around 12-18 months. Which means almost certainly she will have had her first season. When did any of your girls have their first season? I am a little concerned because we have a holi...

Re: First time off lead

This time went great again!! I went armed with cheese! I kept calling Winnie back and gave her a piece of cheese and touched he collar each time. She came back reliably every time! Im so happy :D . It is so much nicer to walk her off lead.

Re: First time off lead

I took Winnie on a walk on my own today and decided to take her off lead again. She was great! We had an explore through some woodland near to where I live. She ran ahead and then back to me. I made a big fuss every time she came back in preperation for the time it would include putting her back on ...

Re: Sleepiness and nipping

You are so right!!

Winnie is so much better when she is well rested. She is in a firm routine now to allow her lots of rest time and away from the boistress hands of children. :D

Re: Bitches wee damaging grass

This really bothers my hubby. You can hose the site down straight after to dilute the acidity. I think you can also get a block that you put in their drinking water that neutralises their urine.

First time off lead

I met up with some friends and their dogs yesterday. I had Winnie on her long lead but it was just getting in the way as she was trying to greet and play with the other dogs. My friend said to take her lead off, something I have been desperate to do but not had the confidence. We were walking around...

Re: Best time of year to get a puppy

Hi and welcome. We were going to get our puppy at the end of summer because we had already booked a holiday at the end of August. But I looked every night for the pup for us and when I found her I couldn't wait. We got her mid- Jan!! It does mean many cold visits to the garden in the early days and ...

Re: Looking for a goldendoodle pup

When I was looking for our pup I liked the look of redrosepuppies.co.uk, they are in Lancashire.

There is a breeder just up the road from where I live: Menethorpe Goldendoodles. I know very little about them but might be worth a look.

Genetic shyness?

Hi folks, I took Winnie to her fifth puppy class last night. She is doing so well. They always ask at the end of the class if we have any questions/concerns. I told them I have noticed Winnie is reacting differently to people, places, things now when we are out on walks. She sometimes barks, growls ...

Re: Emily still nipping

Such wise words from some very experienced dog-mums! We too feel a bit fed up with the nipping at times. Winnie is 17 weeks now. I find she will go for quite a few days with no nipping and then have a bad day or two. We try to be really firm and consistent in our response. We used to squeal and stay...

Re: Grooming: How much???

I have arranged to have a dog groomer friend of mine to come and groom Winnie at my house. It is the perfect solution! Winnie gets to stay at home and I can watch and see how likely it is that I will be able to groom her myself in the future! I will try to get some before and after pictures posted. ...
