Grooming: How much???
We would like to get Winnie trimmed. I have looked at a few places and asked for prices. Around £25 seems average for a puppy groom. I am nervous about taking her. I really don't like the idea of leaving her with strangers in an unfamiliar environment. I am nervous about whether they will do what I ...

Re: Emily still nipping
Winnie, 15 weeks, is getting much better with nipping now! She does still nip but a sharp 'ah!' And she stops straight away. It just takes time and consistency. Bite inhibition is so important! We let her play with our hands, adults only, and if we feel her teeth on our skin we do a loud 'ah!' And s...

Crufts
Did anyone see Crufts last night? They had a discussion about so called "designer breeds". They were complaining about all the people buying/ breeding cross breeds like labradoodles. They said you do not know what you are getting, pot luck! It makes me so mad! Our dogs are wonderful! Breed for wonde...

Coconut oil
I have just read an article about the benefits of coconut oil for dogs. It seems it is a great natural supplement for them with all kinds of health and general wellbeing benefits. I just wondered if any of you give your dogs coconut oil and if so which brand you would recommend. There was a great re...

Re: New puppy coming home
My youngest (almost 2) is just the same. She grabs Winnies head, flaps her arms around and puts her face really close to her nipping jaws! We have tried to explain how to stroke her but it doesn't work. My little girl thinks it's a game. We are now limiting their contact to times when Winnie is rela...

How many feeds?
Winnie will be 14 weeks on Wed. We feed her three times a day at the moment, breakfast, lunch and tea. The last few days she has had very runny poo, except for the first one of the day. We were wondering if it would be better to drop her to two meals a day. I have looked it up on Internet but you ge...

Re: Newbie question Puppy kong
Winnie hasn't particularly gone for peanut butter! We waited a couple of weeks after we got her because we didn't want to introduce too many new things too soon. I made some homemade dog treats that had peanut butter in and she likes them.

Re: Newbie question Puppy kong
We feed Winnie all her kibble in Kongs and food dispensing toys. It works really well because it is giving her a task and gets some of the excess puppy energy worked off. It also means she doesn't have a food bowl to defend against the kids!!! We moisten some of her kibble and stuff that into a Kong...

Re: New puppy coming home
We are a family of five also, my youngest is almost 2 and my eldest is 10. We got our puppy 4 weeks ago, she is called Winnie. Things are going really well but be prepared for a lot of work. Consistency absolutely is the key. We do not give our puppy any attention unless all 4 feet are on the floor ...

Re: Location of pen and separation anxiety
We have had our pup for almost 4 weeks now. She has been brilliant with being left. We are a family of 5 with young children so the house is usually hectic. When we leave we moisten some of her kibble and stuff it into a Kong and put it in her crate, she follows it in. We do not say 'goodbye' to her...

Re: Biting/pulling clothes
Winnie is doing much better with the biting/pulling on my clothes. I have learned to recognise when she is getting too excited or over tired and can predict when she will start being rough. We have been standing still, saying a firm 'ah ah' and no eye contact. That usually works, if it doesn't she h...

Biting/pulling clothes
Hi everyone, Winnie is doing really well with most things. She is sleeping well at night, enjoying walking, learning commands (sit, down, leave it) but as she is coming out of her shell she is pulling and biting on our clothes. She doesn't do it to my husband at all! It just seems to be me and my olde...

Re: Next step (house training)
It have started walking her to the door now so hopefully she will understand where she needs to go to let us know. She is only in her crate when I leave the house and at night, I don't think that is excessive! I have taken her on three short walks over the last few days. She is doing really well and...

Next step (house training)
Winnie (10 week old pup) is doing great with house training. Yesterday she only went on her puppy pad in the house once. Today she has been outside each time. My question is.. I work as a childminder from home so I can take her out straight after nap, play and food and drink. She is in the kitchen w...

Re: New puppy
Just an update on Winnie... She is doing great! She is so friendly and cuddly. She is sleeping great at night, 10/11 until 7am. :D She is learning to be gentle with our hands when we play with her but still nips our clothing. She can go out for walks at the end of the week. Any advice on first walks...
