Re: Ticks in the New Forest

Were gonna try a spray bottle with high concentrate of garlic n water. Ive never used chemicals to date, and dont really want to start now. The dogs may stink, but who cares if it works  Perhaps we'll try that as well, as just giving them garlic doesn't seem as effective this year :( Do you ju...

Re: Cod Liver Oil...

Thanks for posting that, Alison :D The only other thing is that I think if you know your dog is to undergo an operation you should discontinue the oils/vit e combination a couple of weeks before.....Or am I getting confused :?: Katherine No your spot on Katherine :D .....Oils, Vit E and Garlic all ...

Re: Cod Liver Oil...

Sorry Chaps ive been on my jollies this week so only just picked this up. For joints and Omega 3 then you should give standard Fish Oils only (or salmon oil) as they are high in Omega 3. The ones you buy in any health food store are fine (they tend to be in 1000mg capsules) and the dose is 1x capsul...

Re: The great pluckng debate

I dont pluck.....Instead I just cut out as much hair as poss. My vet said the same.....Plucking can cause the ear to flair up :? ....and Arch is that sensitive with his ears anyway I just cut bits out. And yes he is prone to ear infections....BUT its only ever 1x ear with him....the other hes never ...

Re: Further to the ear debate

Your vet is correct. Continual ear infections are in the main caused by food allergies. However, with Doodles its not all that straight forward due to some having so much hair in the ear and a narrow ear canal (ie a perfect warm environment for yeast and bacteria). So...does your doodle have very ha...

Re: Do BARF dogs need multivitamins?

Yep Just Fish Oil and Vit E id Recommend unless he/ she has any medical joint type issues.

All their Nutrients should come from their food really as long as you are giving a variety of meats, bones, eggs etc .

Re: Snapping at another dog

Thats such a true and good article Katherine, and sums Archwipe up to a tea  Never any damage done, he just lacks confidence and is insecure and will hence not tolerate "in your face dogs", or dogs that want to jump on him or "dominate" him at all. The problem we have though is everyone else's ...

Re: Snapping at another dog

The one thing ive learnt is you cant expect your dog to like every dog he meets......just like we dont we everyone we meet  . I have 2x doodles, one (age 5) I can be 99% certain that he never snaps or will start a fight., although he does growl on a few occasions...BUT if the other dog starts ...

Sorry Katherine Ive only just seen this.

What a great tribute to your dad, I know how close you all were as a family. He obviously had a very long and fulfilled life and is now starting the journey back with your mum by his side again.

Take Care and glad Rufus is a great support to you xx

Re: Charlie has a runny bum again !

Youd be much better going for this:

http://www.healthstore.uk.com/p447840/t ... r-50g.html

£7 for a tub and its got both probiotics, digestive enzymes in to help with digestion.

Do you know if hes picking things up when hes out? Or if hes pinching things at home?

Re: Question about BARF again!!!!

NEVER cooked bones at all.....these are the ones that splinter and can cause damage. Raw bones are fine and much softer. However Nobody can give a 100% guarantee that dogs wont choke on a raw bone, and there has been the odd few dogs that have. However nothing in life is 100% guaranteed and there ha...
