Re: Breeding from dogs with known conditions

What concerns me at the moment is that everyone is aware about health issues and I agree a healthy dog is important but what about temperament? I know that a well known breed of dog was nearly ruined in the midlands by irresponsible breeding of dogs that had sudden and unpredictable rages. Sister i...

Re: Doodle agility

   Bomb-proof recall!!!! I remember the first agility demo Daisy did - I lined her up at the start, told her to wait, and moved to just beyond the first hurdle. I gave my command "Over" and ran on to the next obstacle, but no Daisy followed me, just the sound if the crowd laughing :o...

Re: Best Dog at fun show

Ooh I remember that show at last year's event, we were in Newcastle at the time! Lewie is a fab dog, I have never seen a doodle so totally focused on his owner! I'm not at all surprised he won! :D Oh yeah I remember that, how time flies. :D Lewie has come on so much since you last saw him :) Thanks...

Re: Music while dog walking?

Guess it just my age, but the last thing I need is music and headphones stuffed in my ears, I just enjoy the peace. It is my time to give my dogs 100% of me, so when I ask for 100% from them its not all one sided. I am a massive music fan also but there is a time and a place, coz I am a massive dog ...

Re: What would you have done ? Advice please

I am only guessing, but if you were doing a bit of training with your (lovely) dog you may have had some treats with you, throwing a handful down on the floor infront of the staffie may just distract the dog and take the edge off the situation.

Re: does colour of labradoodle affect temperament?

The only tip I can give you about colour is it is amazing how many dogs will have a 'pop' at a big black dog and their owners will make up some excuse about their dog not being able to read your black dogs facial expression. I would pick a dog on its attitude not colour, I never went to get a...

Talk about blowing your own trumpet, you may well have a good behind but no point bragging to the dog

I use the word "follow" instead

Well done anyway 8)

There is a lot of this walk off lead. There are areas near the start and finish points where a lead is needed

Re: Pedigree Dogs Exposed part2 9pm BBC4

I was not at all surprised to see how little progress has been made. I am saddened to hear a voluntary code of practice - if you are the regulatory authority then you must have the power to instill mandatory limits, tests and practice guidelines. I have never bred dogs, however, if a vet said never ...
