New puppy and existing dog...any tips?

Hello all, I am very excited by the fact we are getting a new puppy in a couple of weeks time. She is a black golden doodle and is absolutely lovely. We have our wonderful Effie who is 2 years old now and I was wondering what advice you can offer when introducing a new puppy to an existing dog. Effi...

Re: Wainwright's Puppy Trays

Hi there, I use Nature diet which is a complete wet food in a tray. I don't know how it compares in price to Wainwrights but Effie doesn't seem to want to drink masses of water as it is all in the food, and does about 1 poo a day. I buy it in bulk from a local pet merchants so it's much cheaper that...

Re: How old for first season?

Hi there, Effie is 2 years and 2 months old and still no sign of a season! She is a standard and weighs about 35 kg. I have been to the vets and they aren't worried at the mo. They said give it until Christmas and then they will do a scan to see if everything is ok but they have known large dogs to ...

Anyone having puppies August/September?

Hello all, I have been on this forum for a while now and I own the wonderful Effie. She is now just over 2 years old and would love another doodle. However, I'm having difficulty finding someone who's having puppies. I've tried to use the 'puppy finder' and also the 'find a breeder near you' facilit...

Re: Travel Sickness

We had terrible trouble with Effie in the car. We couldn't even get to the end of the road without her drooling dreadfully and eventually being sick. I had exactly the same problem as you of a dog backing away from the car, pulling on the lead. It was quite upsetting. Anyway, I started to feed her h...

Re: Is anyone a member of Norfolk Doodles?

I do go along to odd meet up but Effie isn't brilliant in the car so I tend not to go too far. I'm afraid I can't make the meet tomorrow but I hope everyone has a lovely time and that the weather holds out for you all!

Re: Whimpering.

Our springer spaniel Molly used to do this. I'd forgotten about it until I was reminded here. I think it's more of a 'this is a lovely treat but I don't know what to do with it' kind of whimper. She used to pace around with said treat in her mouth and if you took it off her she got all excited, boun...

Re: HOW TO UPLOAD PHOTOS - A GUIDE!

Thank you so much for this! An excellent guide! I do like the way you've put what it should look like on your screen. That makes it so much simpler for us non competent computer people (me!). No wonder I couldn't do it....there are quite a few steps to go through aren't there? I shall definitely hav...

Re: Home checker in Norfolk NR11

Hi Lizziesmum, I hadn't thought of the Labradoodle Trust (stupidly!) but that would be a really good idea. I would love to give a dog a nice foster home until the right people came along for it. Unfortunately, I'm not going to the Doodlefest but I have seen Barb's name mentioned on various posts so ...

Re: Home checker in Norfolk NR11

Hello Lizziesmum, I live quite close to there in PE32 and I know the area quite well. Do I get in touch with Many Tears? What attributes do you think I'd need? I have been thinking about fostering myself as we already have a labradoodle (of course!) and she is so very gentle I thought she would be e...

Re: What's the gap between your girl's seasons?

Thank you Bid and Divadoodles for your replies. Looks like my girl is a bit of a late starter! I keep looking at the diary to see if something important is coming up because she's bound to have it then....! She was 18 months at Christmas and I was convinced with 14 people and 3 dogs coming to ours f...

Re: What's the gap between your girl's seasons?

I'm interested in this topic as Effie is 21 months old and hasn't had her first one yet! What's the usual time for this to happen? She's a standard and I want to try and get her spayed between seasons. Vet recommends 4 months from the start of the season. I'll keep looking in to see how the poll goe...

Re: interested in getting an australian labradoodle puppy

Hi Pamela, Welcome to the forum! I will admit that I liked the look of the Australian labradoodles but when I researched them and found out that they were all spayed/neutered before 8 weeks I was put off as I think it's wrong to neuter at such a young age. In fact I agree with your vetinary nurse on...
