F1????????

Post by Lucythedoodle » 04 Jan 2009, 13:52

Hi
Can anyone explain how the F1 etc works and what it means please?
Lucy's dad was a white toy poodle and her mum, a golden lab, I assume she's F1 as she's 1st generation but what does the b at the end mean and will she have one????????????????
From a puzzled (and probably thick!)

It took me almost a year to get the hang of the B's :)

Lucy is an F1 as she is 50% poodle and 50% labrador.

If you were to breed Lucy with a Poodle, her puppies would be F1b's, as she was "back-crossed" to the poodle therefore making the puppies 75% poodle. The B stands for back-crossed.

After that I'm lost. We have an F1b so it's the only reason I know. It's all very confusing so I hope you're not considered thick because if that's the case, so am I :D

I find it horribly confusing too. I think I've learned it all and then forget again. Barley is an F1 too. Lucy is gorgeous anyway, whatever F you want to call her.

Daisy is an F2 but at 4.30 this morning, she was definitely an F something else

Wow, her coat is the same as my Maggie and she's an F1 (I think) haha, her mum was lab and dad was a standard poodle.

Oh, she moults but in clumps of very light hair, nothing like coarse hair dogs and our friends who are allergic are much less allergic to her than other dogs!!! x
