Just a little something to help with spelling

Post by becky.q » 06 May 2009, 17:38

I went on a course yestersday and my tutor taught me a mnemonic to remember how to spell DIARRHEA
Don't Inhale After Roger Rabbit Has Eaten Apples

I for one really have problems spelling this word. I even taught it to my year 8 class today

It is Cherryblossom's version. I can't normally spell it either.

Perhaps it should be Don't Inhale After Roger Rabbit Has Only Eaten Apples.

It was after dinner so I'd switched off

I think the version without the 'o' is the American spelling. They apparently tend to drop the o in an oe or the a in an ae word. Love the mnemonics though.

My son has one for naming the planets in order from the sun - My Very Easy Memory Jogger Seems Useful Naming Planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) - very useful for a year 8 class perhaps?!
