What size is your labradoodle?

Post by KateD » 01 Mar 2010, 14:48

I am interested to know what size doodles people have got and why!

We've got Alfie who is a standard, because my husband wanted a big dog  , and we have got Lola who is a medium. We chose to get a medium this time as there isn't enough room in our house for another Alfie!! :D

Daisy is a standard - she is 23" to the shoulder, and weighs 27 kg atm.

I don't know whether you'd call Poppy a medium or a standard because although I often say she is tiny, when I measured her she is actually 21" to the shoulder but much shorted in the body that Daisy, and weighs only 18kg.

I was going to ask something similar. Boris is a standard. He's going to be 6 months on Thursday this week. He weighs 28kg which is what Toby weighed at a year (now 33kg). Is that too much? He seems to be perfectly happy and healthy. He does pooh a lot so I wonder if we're feeding him too much but then when you look at the feeding guides they are done on the basis of weight and he currently has what I worked out he needed when he was about 22kg. He has gained 2kg in the last 2 weeks - we got a wii fit plus at Christmas which lets you set up pet miis so we've been weighing them regularly :D

Meg at 18months is 17.5kg at her last weigh in and about 20inches so about medium I think (her mother was a golden retriver and father a mini poodle so I was told she should be somewhere inbetween the two fullly grown which seems about right. Dont think she will grown anymore. We choose on size thinking that she would fit nicely in the car and not be too big for me to walk I am not 5ft so some of these bigger doods would be bigger than me.

My Indie is a standard about 22-23 inches at the shoulder. She is quite slim and not into her food. She will be 3 in May. She is expecting her first litter at the moment but pre that weighed about 22kg. She is really fit and fast, even with some little pups in her belly........................ she is a bit shorter than most of the other doodles we have met.

I've got 5 standards, the boys both weigh in at 33Kg, Scrumpy is shortish and a stocky lab type build, Sach is taller and longer.
The girls, Scarlet is small lab height and stocky and weighs 29Kg, Macy is taller and longer and weighs 26Kg, Harriet is the tallest, has a poodle build and weighs 23Kg.

I like big clumsy dogs

Marley is 20 months old now, 25inches and weighs 35k. His dad was a big standard poodle and his mum an average sized lab. He's not really intersted in food so must be his genes.

How do you manage to weigh your dogs? I can weigh Lola as she is a puppy, and she weighs 4.7kg at 12 weeks, but there's no way that I could weigh Alfie. He is 26inches to his shoulder and he weighs a lot!!!

We pick them up and get on the scales. But then again with my old job I'm used to lifting wriggly dogs. Have you ever tried to get a newfoundland into a bath? One leg at a time!

Murphy is 9 months old next week. He weighed 20.8kg at the vet last week and is about the same size as a large labrador - I would measure him, but everytime I get near him with a tape measure he tries to eat it!!!

His mum was a standard labradoodle and his dad was a minature poodle - don't ask
