Save dogs from puppy mills in Missouri

Post by linny2 » 03 Aug 2010, 00:29

Hi all,

Tragically, approximately 40 percent of all pet store puppies in the US come from Missouri, where nearly 200,000 breeding dogs produce up to a million puppies a year.

Unbelievably, large-scale puppy mills in Missouri are allowed to keep dogs in small wire cages, stacked on top of each other, for their entire lives. They often don't get exercise, sunlight, companionship, or human interaction. They live in filth and excrement and suffer discomfort and injuries from standing on wire for years on end.

You can help to stop this suffering my simply signing the http://action.humanesociety.org/site/Me ... v_id=17927

Thank you all for helping to close down puppy mills, wherever in the world they may be :)
Best wishes,
Linny, Buffy & Spike

I've signed too.

There is some good news coming from America. This post on DoodleZoo (the Doodle web site over the pond) tells how one state is sorting things out on puppy farms.

Don't forget to support Puppylove campaigns to end factory farming of dogs and pet shop sales in this country too.

If we all band together on networks around the world we can use the internet to put pressure on our governments to get the laws changed and make a terific difference to dogs' lives.

One voice cries alone in the wilderness, a whole lot of voices becomes a great shout of protest and will be heard.

My Mum
I am cute and cuddly, bred to please, My mum's in a cowshed down on her knees.

I love your cuddles and lots of affection, My mum just waits for any attention.

I am bright and breezy with lots of show, My mum makes her owners lots of dough.

I love my toys and soft new bed, My mum is shivering in a cold old shed.

I love to run and play in the park, My mum sits alone and waits in the dark.

I love your touch, so soft and gentle, My mum is so scared she is almost mental.

I have to go now... I don't feel too well, Something I picked up in my mothers hell.

I can't stop thinking about these poor dogs and the poem was really thought provoking. I hope lots of people are signing the petition.
