I recently changed from a Mitsubishi Shogun to a diesel Chevrolet Captiva due to fuel economy. The boot is huge, Ellie has a really large full size bed in the boot.

vauxhall vectra estate (go for a decent spec second hand if you can, the sri has a lower wheel base so easier for doods to jump in)

as long as the height of the boot isn't an issue - a Nissan Qashqai is excellent! I get about 42 mpg, cheap to insure, really surprisingly comfy, and comparing to other similar cars - cheap!

I've had my 2 medium doods (both about 20" to the shoulder) plus a foster dood when we have one (nearly all labradonkeys  ) plus maybe a little cavalier in the boot. All contented and comfy, but for long journeys I only ever have my two - and both can lie down in comfort.

Hope this helps :D

thanks everyone for the suggestions. i was thinking 2nd hand audi/vw diesel but wasn't sure if my £7-8k would be enough. im not sure the sales people would appreciate me taking louis along for the test drive so i'll just have to take my tape measure. something smaller the the cr-v will be better for him cos there's too much room for him to be a lunatic and think he can actually catch the joggers/motorbikes as they go past.

We paid 7000 for our 4 year old audi a4 diesel estate. plenty of room for all of us and very economical for a bigger car. :D duffy is 21inches tall and jumps in easy. Loads of room for her at 24k and marley at 36k. We have done lots of 2-3 hour journeys with them before breaking and they seem really happy in there.

Hi,

I have an audi A2 diesel 1.4 and the tax is £35 a year! and as it's diesel 1.4 economical as well. The boot has enough space for Dexter and as it is a high car head room as well.

Dexter is a big standard dood as well nearly 3 foot in a sitting position
