Lupin Update

Post by Bid » 08 Feb 2011, 11:40

Yesterday I took Lupin to the vets for her checkup, and he found that she has luxating patellas. Obviously I got in touch with Bridget, and this morning we both took Lupin to see an orthopaedic specialist vet, who agreed with the diagnosis. The prognosis for Lupin is good though - she will need careful monitoring for 6 months, with limited exercise - she can do running but not really playing with other dogs, and will almost definitely need surgery at 6/7 months of age. She is a happy little puppy and it clearly isn't bothering her at all, judging by the way she was dashing around the garden!

Ths crux of the matter though - the vet said that Lupin needs a quiet home where she is the only dog, maybe with older people who do not want to do a lot of walking. This vet knows about Daisy and her hips, and said that with the best will in the world, this is not the home for Lupin.

Bridget has been a real star, and has taken Lupin home with her. She will care for her as long as it takes to find her a suitable home, and will pay for the surgery herself. No breeder could have cared more or been as supportive as Bridget is being.

There's not much more I can say really - I'm going out to take my girls for a long walk in the sunshine and try to take it all in.

I am so so sorry Bid. Poor little Lupin - but I am glad to hear that her prognosis is good.

You have your two lovely girls and I hope you can enjoy a lovely walk in this glorious sunshine with them this morning.

Big hugs. x

Oh Bid, I don't know what to say after everything you have been through already.

I'm so sorry that Lupin can't stay with you but you have to make the best decision for her and her future health. I'm glad she will be ok following surgery but really feel for you...

Enjoy your walk with your two girls and the right pup will come along soon, I'm certain.

Thinking of you xx

Oh Bid, that's such a shame, especially after all the sadness :( . How lucky Lupin is to have you and Bridget who care so much for her wellbeing. I'll bet your girls will miss her too.

Have a lovely walk.

Oh Bid - I'm so sorry, what a blow for you.

Well done Bridget for stepping up and being such a great example of a breeder. Fingers crossed little Lupin continues to enjoy herself and hope that her condition doesn't bother her too much. I'm sure there is a home out there somewhere that will be perfect for her! What a shame that she cant enjoy a good doodle wrestle - but then if she is anything like my girl she would rather just play chase and run around rather than wrestle!!

Thinking of you, Bridget and of course little Lupin

Oh bid, how terribly sad for you. What a big space there must be in your heart now.

Sounds like little Lupin will have a life of luxury love and being on a pedestal as an only dog... wishing her the best home ever and perfect patellas.

Bid, I'm so sorry to hear this, you have had far more than your share of bad luck recently. But at least the prognosis is good for little Lupin and thank heavens she has such a good and responsible breeder.

Your perfect pup will be along soon, he/she must be out there waiting for you to find them.

Like everyone else, Bid, I was so sorry to read this about Lupin and I really feel for you. We pour so much love into these canine friends of ours and the bond forms quickly and deeply. You must feel the loss, but I'm sure you will make sense of it all in your mind in due course. At least you have the consolation of knowing Lupin is being cared for so well and has the benefit of a good prognosis.

Don't lose hope of finding the perfect dog for your family. I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of another lovely girl with Poppy and Daisy one day.

Love from Lynne and Milly

Enjoy the walk with your gorgeous girls.

Bid, sending hugs on to you, you must be heartbroken once again.

Well done Bridget for making sure Lupin gets the very best care over the coming months and goes to a nice quiet home where she can rest to her hearts content.

What a sad series of events xxx

I can only reiterate what everyone else has said. Our thoughts are with you.

On the positive side at least the lovely Lupin is going to make someone very happy.

That made me cry. If anyone deserved the best of news, it was you and your doods. Poor Bridget, she must be devestated too.

Me and my pair are sending hugs and nice wishes to you, Poppy and Daisy.
