We were walking in the park today on on the path Wurly stumbled (literally) across what I think is a crayfish . She got a wee bit scared jumping up & down, backing off, making Woooo Woooo noises . I distracted her by throwing her ball in the opposite direction. I turned it back on it's feet, as she knocked it on to it's back . Then took a photo. Never seen one before. I had to put her on her lead to get past it as she kept trying to hit it on the head, with her paw .

Is it a crayfish?

Ooooh, exciting! I've never seen one either but I guess if it was smaller than a lobster then it must be?

Wurly didn't fancy it for lunch then?

Beamish & I stumbled across an adder on our walk at the weekend andI was scared!

Well - if you were near a river it would be a crayfish (freshwater living) if you were near the sea then it would be a lobster (live in salt water). If near neither, I suspect it MUST have dropped off a tray of lobsters and crawled to the park!!

My hubby caught a crayfish while fishing recently in tonbridge Kent; he bought it home and put it in our pond and it looked just like that little man.
However, It had escaped by the next morning

I think it must have been a crayfish, we're nowhere near salt water. Daise1970, do you think it made it's way from Kent to Derbyshire .

As for it being on the park, well there is the river running though the park, but it was a fair way from water on the path by the tennis courts. Maybe it just fancied a change . It was feisty wee man, whist I was taking it's photo it was rearing up and clanking it's pincers, but it had just been rolled over by a doodle so it's no wonder it was a bit peed off.
