Devon Diehard Rupert has crossed the bridge

Post by linny » 27 Sep 2016, 14:06

Just to say that little Rupert crossed the bridge last Monday. His little heart failed and so we took the decision to say goodbye
He was sixteen years old and much loved by us all.
On the previous Friday he had a wonderful day , he was active and happy . He walked the beach at Dawlish with no problems at all. By Monday he had taken a turn for the worst. I am just so pleased that he had that final walk and was active right up to the end .
Running free now across the bridge. our much loved Rupert.

So sorry to hear about Rupert Linny, but like all your animals he will have had a grand life. I know that doesn't really help now, but it will. Sending hugs your way. xxx

Thank you all.
I do take comfort in that he had a long , happy & loved life here.
His very early life was not so good as he was dumped on the streets of Exeter .....a backyard breeder dump we think. :(
He was around 6 months old with retained testicles and double teeth so obviously unsellable. He was dumped with two older bitches both suffering with Pyometra and both at deaths door. They were operated on the same night and both survived and went on to live with friends of mine, so a happy outcome for them all..
Rupert was a little dog who thought he was a big one  and we miss him. :( :(

I haven't been on here for a long time or met up with the Diehard group.

Sorry to hear about your loss Linny. Like everyone said Rupert would have had a wonderful life with you after such a sad start to his life. It's not easy saying goodbyes & the longer they are in our lives they become part of our family :-(

Being animal lovers ourselves we know what you will still be going through. Both our beloved cats had to be put to sleep during May this year Feobie 16 1/2 years followed by Monty almost 18 years who couldn't live without his companion left us exactly two weeks later. Month of May wasn't a good month for us & Bess also missed both cats who would also share the sofa together :-)

Thoughts are with you.

Thank you for your kind thoughts, so sorry to hear that you too have lost your much loved cats Feobie and Monty :( :(
We lost our our old cat Fergus in December last year aged 21 and then his companion Matilda Jane (just like your Monty) gave up on life and passed over the bridge just a couple of weeks later.
They are all part of the family and they do take part of you with them when they leave. :(
Love to Bess & her humans from Linny & the boys.

Sad news of Rupert Linny, I know what the loss of a loved friend feels like. I took comfort in knowing we gave a happy long life and received in return uncompromising love and companionship. Memories are special.
