Hi, as promised an update on a day out. Leonardslee was supposed to be our trip out but read web site again, dogs allowed but please keep under close control think about the birds and other(people) visitors,ok I thought, then not allowed in the cafes again ok, then no picnics support our restaurant and cafe .We thought it over and decided allowing dogs seemed a token gesture and we will go but not now, so we went to Hever Castle Gardens ,had a fantastic day, lovely walk around the lake and grounds ,picnicked by the fake Japanese tea house(not open just an outside,) and watched the ducks and birds, with Dexter flat out on the jetty. Cannot take dogs into castle or cafes but big outdoor area under a lovely pergola.Recommend, if you have the gardeners world booklet of gardens half price on non event days.Even better. Looking for ideas around Dorchester please. H and D

Hi, we love dorset and visit Dorchester every time. On Wednesdays a big market in town centre, well signposted, sell usual tat but also veg, flowers, plants, big under cover stalls with all sorts, dogs allowed in too. Plenty of parking on site.
If you can get to Lulworth cove and durdle door is a must, great dog walks, not too far from Dorchester.
Corfe Castle great day out, ruins, but dogs allowed all over owned by NT so you do pay. Fab tea and scones at cafe near entrance.
If beach is your thing Chesil Beach, you can walk and see for miles.
Have a great time when you go.
