Has Barney got an odd shaped head?!!

Post by jennieh » 28 Oct 2007, 22:13

Hi,
This is probably a daft question to ask, but do all labradoodles have a 'pointy' lump on the top of their heads?!! :?
I hadn't really noticed it before, but when out today, a lady came over to fuss over him, & said - he's got the poodle lump on top of his head!! She'd had several poodles before. It doesn't make him any less cute...just wondered if this is part of his poodle heritage?!!

Just to confuse things - my lab has a very definite pointy lump on top of his head :? (He's called Barney too - I thought you must know him for a moment  )

It's called the occiput and is a normal part of the skull.

Barney's mum was a labradoodle & his dad a poodle...
so I suppose he is more poodle than lab?!!
I hadn't noticed it before..I shall also call it his pom pom from now on!!

Buddy has the same 'pom pom' on his head, never noticed anything so obvious on any other dog I've had, still surprises me when I feel it sometimes as it is very big. He is the result of a labradoodle poodle backcross so maybe it is a more poodle thing.
