Hi every one,

After some research I have found out that their is already a British Labradoodle Club :D . They were set up years ago and have already done the things that we were trying to produce in respect of information for new puppy owners etc. The club did not used to be on the net, Annette Courtney is involved with this and is reviving the club as I type, however will be on the net in about two weeks :D , so I will keep you all posted.

That's interesting to hear. I wonder why nobody has ever heard of it after all the discussions there have been here. Annette Courtney is a member here, wonder why she hasn't mentioned it if it's been going for years :?:

Good news though, it will be interesting to see how it is set up and how things develop. Thanks for the info :D

Ditto Labradorable I have been reading posts from a few sites for the last
18mths or more and hadn’t heard of it either I am not a great poster but I am
an avid reader on most of the Labradoodle sites & for at least 12mths prior to
getting my doodle I scoured libraries everything and anything to read
about Labradoodles in the British isles and all I could find about was
The Australian and American bodies.
As you say though Great News it should help things develop at a
quicker pace and that will be good news for all

Will people be able to register their puppies with the BLC and have records kept? As a breeder, a central registry is a vital tool to me so that I can be sure of what I am doing when I breed.

I think that retrospective registering of litters would also be a good idea although I suppose it would be difficult to implement. If it is for the good of the breed you would hope that almost all breeders who are asked would be willing to register all the litters they have bred. We would all know then just who is related to whom this would help prospective breeders and you never know may even bring out into the open all of problems with breeders who have to keep KC names back if we had a proper register to show. It would of course also help us all to see just what problems there are or have been breed within the Labradoodle population of this country, which can only help all
of us Labradoodle owners in the future. There is already a wealth of Labradoodles that have been bred and if registering was only for the new litters then what a waste

This club was originally set up by one of the first Labradoodle breeders in England about 10 years ago, however she then moved back to America and left the club to Annette Courtney and Carol Shaw. Annette and Carol are meeting up next weekend to discuss how to take the club forward and yes it will have its own internet site. They will also keep records of Pedigrees and breeders will need to meet criteria, to ensure the breed stays healthy and can be moved forward. I am pleased to say that they do not approve of Early Spay/Neutering so this will not be necessary in order to join the club or be one of their breeders :D
