tough toys

any suggestions for affordable non destructable toys for a 7 month doodle ? This is what Mostyn did to his new toys (that cost over £12) I bough this afternoon!

I bought Amos 'Ruffians' from PAH, up to now they have been indistructable, I have looked on the site this morning but cant seem to find them, (but they do sell them in store) I have however found these links so that you can see what they look like.
They are animal shaped hard rubber toys like the 'Kong' they are brightly coloured and all have very distinctive noices. They are fairly cheap too.

Hi Rhian,
I have this problem too, talking on the forum recently, I was advised on tuffies toys, they have about 7 layers to them. They are expensive (£24 p.p) well the one I decided on.

Daisy has just had an enjoyable two days with an empty 4litre plastic milk bottle. take the cap off first. when it starts to get a bit shredded time for a new one. They are noisy though . It fills in the time until the cats bring her another mouse to catch.

Ahh that picture of Mostyn with his "toy" reminded me of Jessie - she also destroys toys in less than a minute. She is such a chewer and they don't understand that this is a toy to play with, they just see it as something else they can chew to pieces! I also tried one of the Tuffies toys - they are very expensive and the higher the grade the more expensive and tougher they are. I went for the one I could afford (knowing it was a risk with Jessie) - I think it was a grade 8. All that happened is that Jessie took slightly longer to destroy it, but destroyed it nevertheless!!

The only toys I have been successful with are the Petstages Orka toys. They come in different shapes, and usually with a rope thing inside. I take the rope off because obviously Jessie would eat that - but the ball or toy is left and these are the only toys she has which are still in tact! They are bright blue too which helps not to lose them!

I would DEFINITELY recommend these as I have tried all the others!!!

Oh yes and the other things I get for Jessie are the hollow dry bones (some are filled with foodstuff). I then push a shapes dog biscuit inside as far down as it will go and Jessie will spend some time chewing and licking to get it out. It keeps are occupied for up to an hour sometimes!!

Buster Ball - best toy ever. You put dried kibble in it and it works round a mechanism inside. The Dood then takes ages batting it round to get the kibble out. Best used in a bare crate to save your carpets/floors as they get very excited working it. It has different settings to make it more difficult as they get the hang of it and keeps them amused for hours, especially when you go out.

There are other versions as my mum's dog has one with bigger holes and the two of them play football with it in the garden. When it rolls down the path Hoby goes after it, hooks a tooth in a hole and carries it back up for more fun.

Jack also loves a ragga (fairly heavy duty one), his kong (buy bigger ones as they grow in case they try to scoff it down in one), a nylabone - the puppy one lasted half a day before he scoffed most of it - he's on one for tough chewers now and that needs replacing after a few months, and two tough rubber ring toys from pets @ home. The smaller blue one he gets across his mouth like Al Johnson and loves tossing about, the bigger yellow one he loves to pull you with. Word of warning - don't get anything (ring, rope toy etc) that they could get completely over their head and could strangle on.

I have avoided getting soft toys as I think he would rip them up and I don't want to encorage him into soft things destruction - he's bad enough with pants and socks

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Just bought him a 'busy buddy twist 'n treat ' which has kept him amused for an evening - and it's still in one piece!
