We're on our hols

Post by groover » 01 Mar 2010, 19:26

Hello from the father ted!

Me, herbie and the hippie are away for a few days in the father ted.
We had to change our destination though, because the weathers been so wild.
We were booked to go to a site up in the cairngorms, but the A9 was closed most of last week, so we changed the booking to Ardgartan which is just about an hr from Glasgow.
We're all set up, but have had a problem with the water (frozen, burst pipe) but the scenery is beautiful with the snow on the mountains and it's meant to be clear skies and a full moon tonight, so that should be lovely. Pity it's also going to be -10 cause I'm still using the blue gas bottles and they freeze. Oops! Lol
we'll just have to cuddle up with herbie to keep warm, which would be lovely if he hadn't been swimming in the loch earlier and now smells like muscles and seaweed. Yuck!

Xxx

Camping in March  You must be bonkers

If you survive the night, can you upload some photos of the Father Ted in action? Hope there's a warm pub somewhere nearby for you to thaw out in

Glad you are having a great time, Jan :D The moonlight was superb last night.....And at least mussels and seaweed have a kind of spa like, therapeutic smell; it could have been fox poo

Sharing a confined space with a damp dog has its downside! Hope you have a lovely time, it's good to get away, and extra good if your Dood is with you.

Aw!

The moonlight on the snow is beautiful, but I didn't think my photographic skills would do it justice. Had herbs out a few minutes ago and we came face to face with about 6 or 7 deer wandering around the site. I didn't have a torch so we all got a bit of a fright at first. Herbs did puff himself up and do a very quiet woof though. My hero. Lol

we're all about to snuggle up for the night. In fact I can hear the hippie trying to talk herbs into moving off of his pillow so he can get into bed.
Poor hippie. Lol xxx

What a good boy, Herbie is :D I always knew Wild Thing was a misnomer.......

I am very pleased to hear that you are not having to attempt to recall him from a deer chase, Jan

Perish the thought!

I can assure you that wild thing will be walked on lead at night . Never mind the deer, it's him running into the loch for a late night swim that I'm trying to avoid.
He'd be in like a shot . (I know this from experience)

Good morning!

Well we survived the night and awoke today to fabulous sunshine and clear blue skys.
It was freezing during the night though. It was so cold that herbies drinking water turned to ice. I was in my pjs, plus fluffy dressing gown, plus fluffy blanket , inside my -25 sleeping bag. So o was snug as a bug (well except for my nose)
the hippie on the other hand was in his birthday suit. But It is his birthday today. :D
