Major grump!

Post by Jay128 » 19 May 2013, 22:48

This weekend we have had a houseful as it was my middle sons 21st. Poppy was a star, apart from the black pudding episode and that was hubbys fault!

What has really ruined the weekend for me is several people saying that she is so well behaved because she is scared of me!

I have spent bl.....y hours training with her, playing with her, bonding with her and having loads of cuddles. They have dogs that rule the house and the humans, are rotten with other dogs and have been known to be very snappy and unpredictable at the best of times.
I got very snappy in the park when one made a comment and said, oh yes thats why she comes back to me even when I don't call her, wagging her tail and cuddling up to me. Thats why she is my constant shadow and I never leave her at home, she travels with us all the time. It was met with a stoney stare and scilence, to which I thought thank God!

If she was afraid of me would I be the first person she looks for and would she leave anyone elses knee for me when I enter the room.

Yes I don't feed her rubbish, she eats from her bowl, her food. She doesn't beg, and whine when we have food, she leaves and goes to her bed until we have finished.
She is trained to walk properly on her lead and I won't let my kids, or anyone elses wined her up beyond belief or disturb her when she has gone to her space because she has had enough.

Bt apparently I am still a bad mum because she is well behaved
Grump over!

Sounds to me like you are doing everything correctly.

Honestly - some people! It sounds like you are doing everything just right - just because they can't bring themselves to train their dogs

In my opinion its peoples own insercurities that make them
come out with such rubbish. They obviously want their dogs to be
like yours but wont put the time and effort into the training.
You just carry on sounds like your dog loves and trusts you very much.

Sounds like their mouths and brains have as little control as their dogs, not surprising really as one is the result of the other!!

I would guess that they are family members rather than friends you would choose to spend time with so feel free to vent you spleen here so that you can put their mindless, idiotic comments behind you and move on. Enjoy the memories of the party for the good things - turning 21 only happens once after all and it is a milestone to celebrate.

Take care

Thank you all for your lovely words. All I want is for Poppy to be a happy well adjusted pooch and as I have said previously the only blip on her record is the black pudding farce, his fault, not hers. My son enjoyed his weekend and didn't pick up on any of the grief I was getting which is a blessing as he would not have been as polite as me.

If I'm honest, at one point I really did feel like ripping someones head off but I had took Poppy out instead, she got lots of extra walkies which she loved.
Thanks for listening to me grump!

People are funny, aren't they. What a way to behave, at your son's party as well.

You're doing brilliantly with Poppy. I always tell my kids that there is only one reason people say mean things, and that's because they're jealous. xx

It sounds like Poppy is fabulously well behaved and that can only come from first class training; these things don't happen by themselves! Be proud of what a good mummy you are and ignore those idiots :D
