Mats???!!! Not anymore :-D

Post by Tania&Bella » 30 Jun 2013, 09:18

I bought this :

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Safari-Grooming ... supplies_5

And it's amazing. It gets the mats out so quickly. Bella has a thick fleecy coat and matted in her 'arm pits' and down her legs if she had been for a paddle in the stream.

It does make the coat dull if used all over so I still use a comb and pin brush.

Oooh, thanks for the tip, I need something like that. We made the mistake of encouraging Aero to swim recently - we've created a monster   who leaps fearlessly into water at any opportunity and is really matted as a result, all down his legs and across his chest.

I was also advised not to use a slicker as its not for a fleece coat. Bella has just been shaved at the groomers - even though we asked for a trim  and now resembles a show poodle. Not due to mats I just think they gored her how they thought she should be done.

I wondered about using this for the odd tangle or knot - the mikkie matt splitter.
Not had need yet as now keep him trimmed short esp as he feels the heat. As for under arms, when he is rolling over for a tickle, I trim his arm pit with scissors.Don't think he will keep still long enough for an underarm wax
