Bid, what can I say?

I too have the poem that Bedlingtondoodle has posted - I hope it gives you comfort.

What a brill life Barney had! And he lives on in the lessons he taught to your two lovely girls.

Love and hugs from us xxx

So sorry to hear of your loss.

This poem was sent to me by a friend (it made me cry like a baby.)
but I have kept a copy in my desk this last year. It does not make things any easier I know, but I liked the thought behind it.

If it should be that I grow weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this last battle cannot be won.

You will be sad, I understand.
Don't let your grief then stay your hand.
For this day, more than all the rest,
Your love for me must stand the test.

We've had so many happy years.
What is to come can hold no fears.
You'd not want me to suffer so;
The time has come -- please let me go.

Take me where my need they'll tend,
And please stay with me till the end.
Hold me firm and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time that you will see
The kindness that you did for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.

Please do not grieve -- it must be you
Who had this painful thing to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years;
Don't let your heart hold back its tears.

Never easy :cry:

P.S I'd never tell any of the lads who I ride motorbikes with or play rugby with, That I cried like a baby; but I know that they'll do the same when their best friend goes.

Please, if you feel this poem inappropiate to you: please PM me and I will remove it straight away
Thank-you - I don't feel it at all inappropriate - the guilt and doubt that come with taking the final decision for my boy is unbearable, but little things like this do help.
Beauty without vanity, strength without insolence, courage without ferocity, and all the virtues of man without his vices - Byron

Oh Bid I am so sorry to belatedly hear about your news. What a loved boy he was and what love he gave you all in return. The poem made me cry too. I hope your girls give you some extra love at this time.
