Today my little cat Millie was put to sleep. The damage to her spinal nerve hadn't shown any signs of repairing and she could no longer walk far without her back legs collapsng. She was too vulnerable to go outside on her own, and wasn't happy being an indoor cat. Millie and her brother Spike were born wild in the village here 10 years ago, and Millie started her life with cat flu which gave her a permanent wheeze and a husky purr. She was a timid and gentle cat, but a lethal hunter. Most nights she spent a least some of the time on our bed - I shall miss that little warm bundle at my feet. It was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make, because she was not in pain, just severely disabled, but Millie was never destined to have her life restricted. I hopes she's found Barney, wherever she is.

I'm so sorry, Bid. I saw your earlier posts about Millie. She, like Barney, is very lucky to have had you as her guardian through her life, and through this last stage. I am sure she will be at Rainbow Bridge now with Barney. God bless you and Millie and Barney. xx PS I was not raised with cats......only with dogs.....but I absolutely love that 2nd photo of her especially - so wise and gentle a face

Oh Bid, I'm so sorry about poor little Millie - what a pretty girl she was and I'm sure you've made the right decision for her.
I dread the day when it's my turn to make a decision like that - our 2 cats are 13 now and I know they won't live forever.
I'm sure Millie is giving Barney hell now - and hunting to her hearts desire !
Thinking of you,
Liz xx

So sad to hear your news Bid. Millie looked a lovely puss and it must have been a hellish decision. I am sure anyone in your shoes would have done the same for her. Although not in pain cats are free spirits and to be confined to the house when you cant explain it to them would seem so cruel. The pain is great because we love them so much but we wouldn't change a thing would we. They are lovely photos of her and she was rich in having found you. She will be running free now with Barney Thinking of you all Sharron and Archie

What a hard decision, but the best one for Millie. She was lucky to have spent her life with you.
Run free with Barney Millie xx
