Been to Weymouth many times, but never with Oscar :( , with Oscar we normally stay nearer to Poole/Wareham.

Hope this helps,

There is a stretch of Weymouth beach where dogs are allowed - the end by the pier I think. I don't go there though, as there is nothing to stop the dogs running onto the road and I don't trust my dogs to stay where they are supposed to be!

Are you staying in Weymouth, or visiting for the day?

Actually, it's the other end to the pier, it's near what used to be the theatre, on the very right of the front, as you look at the sea. It's not very big, and when the tide is in, it's much smaller!

we are staying in a caravan at one of the haven parks. we going there as its was where we were originally from (in fact I was born there). I just get confused as it says that dogs are not allowed on main beach until 30 September so does this mean we can go on any part of the beach as it will be out of season.

as she's 4/5 months we will be keeping her on a long leash so wont be much of a problem with the road. her recall not brilliant yet and she's a people dog lol.

its for my mums 50th I think we maybe annoying the rest of the family by taking her with us (not so much dog people) so I want to go with the relevant info as so can plan our days in advance as it only 3 days

Rachel, after that date they are allowed on the whole beach. Sorry, should have said that, but thought the date would be later than you would be going.

PS. I was born in Bristol, but spent many of my formative years in Dorchester.

Please be extremely careful on the main road alongside the front at Weymouth.

One of my earliest memories is our family dog, an OES, being killed because he got between me and a car that mounted the pavement on that road.
