Tenby update

Post by SBW2009 » 01 Jun 2010, 11:57

update- the ultrasound shows a large mass on her spleen, around the size of a tennis ball. Although the vet thinks he can operate, the liver is showing signs of cancer and her breathing is now weak. He doesn't believe she'll survive the op or if she did-it probably won't make signicant difference to her. So we are bring her home, for some tlc and hope she has her last months or days enjoying the sunshine and bondi. Vet did say it should have been picked up sooner, when we are a bit less emotional, i will be complaining. Thank you again.

We've just picked her up - she did not look happy!!!!!

They shaved her tummy and side and she looks really strange! They said considering her condition they were impressed with her condition and behaviour.

Just hope we have a few more weeks and maybe months with her.

Thank you for your kind words - i've managed not to cry for a couple of hours.

Thank you
She's been eating so thats good however her breathing isn't great so hopefully thats because of the stress of today.

I didn't realise i posted this in health matters - i meant to put it in of-topic, sorry

Make the most of your time left with her. You made the right decision not to put her through more stress for a probably hopeless outcome.

Sad though it is, being loved and a great life, with a painless, caring death is the best any animal can hope for.

Thank you
I think when the vet said that she's more than likely will die on the table, i just thought - we've come to far for that.

Just wish it had been caught earlier. But nothing we can say or do can change the past.

Hubby has cancelled his birthday celebration and mine is on hold - we simply can't take her on a 5 hour journey home (she's always done at least twice a month and has never struggled).

She'e eaten loads night - all her fav including Marks and Spencers apples (don't ask!!!).

Its never easy losing a pet, but worse when they are young and unexpected. At least we have time to say goodbye.

Try not to be too sad. I hope you all have some good quality time together, and remember Life isn't everything!
