Doodle with no sparkle

I can't help but I can sympathise .
Jessie is in season at the moment and lacking all her sparkle
Hopefully she will perk up in a few days. You must be very worried, I am sure you will get to the bottom of it.

Hope she gets better soon ,i have noticed a differece in dexter now he as just gone two ,he sleeps a lot.and he as put on weight which as made a differnce when he goes out for a run ,seems to pant a lot.

thank you everyone for your kind messages of support and advice. I did look up about addisons disease but as you mentioned it did not quite fit Molly's symptoms, she has quite an appetite, she has never been a big drinker and the vet suggested that as she doesn't drink a lot she wouldn't be weeing a lot. Over the last couple of days we have been encouraging her to drink more, but being the princess that she is, she will only drink from a pink plastic beaker and not the water bowl not ideal but she seems to be drinking a little more. I'm not hopefully counting our chickens but today on our walk, she actually chased Arthur when he wandered too far, she hasn't done that for such a long time, it was lovely to see, and although she did lag behind at times her tail was up and tonight she has been a bit more demanding like her old diva doodle self (sorry if this doesn't make a lot of sense i keep getting interrupted by a rather large paw on my knee We will not rule anything out yet but hope this is the start of our old Molly back and maybe it was all down to hormones. fingers crossed! And would like to say to Fiona, yes Molly is Betty's sister, we often wonder how Betty and Angus are doing. We will try and post some pics, but for some reason having difficulty at the moment, thankyou all once again, and we will keep you posted xx

To encourage the cat to drink water with his urinary issues (not enough water = high urine concentration = more crystals) we bought him a Cat Mate http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pet-Mate-06039- ... 006&sr=1-2

Barney really enjoys it too - don't be put off by the fact it's says "Cat" mate, dogs love it too!

Molly is beautiful and just like Betty, Arthur is so cute, where did he come from, his coat looks adorable. Im pleased that Molly seemed happier on her last walk, I hope she continues to perk up.

i think we will invest in a cat water fountain as Maggie has suggested, even if Molly doesn't drink from it i'm sure Arthur will have a lot of fun, as he likes to paddle and dip his head in the bowl . Although Molly has been a bit more interactive at home today, our walk was very slow. I think we will have to continue to monitor her over the next few weeks and then have another blood/urine test, before we go down the route of specialist involvement, we don't want to cause her unnecessary stress. Lovely to hear from Fiona and Betty and hope she is doing well, is she a big girl too? Arthur came from Weymouth, his Mum was a medium black doodle and Dad a miniature poodle, he is a bundle of mischief as only puppies can be xx

Hi Ruth, (and Ruth) thank you so much for suggesting this site, we have found the other doodlers to be very kind and supportive, it's comforting to know that there is a network of advice and even just a listening ear! . It was really nice to see you all again, i'm not so sure Arthur will fit in your rucksack now , looking forward to bumping into you again, although i will apologize now, i seem to be able to remember most of the dogs names that we meet but not soo good with their human companions xxx

It must be very worrying for you seeing Molly so much quieter and not knowing why, I do hope she gets back to herself, like you said you dont want her going through unneccessary tests. Arthur is gorgeous, we have thought about getting another too. Betty Is about 23-24inch to the shoulder and weighs about 26kg so smaller than the expected 30kg we were told but she certainly makes up for it in personality! I feel very lucky to have such a wonderful dog, she is really calm at home now and only plays and dashes around when we are, still as mad on her walks though! Recall was something Betty really never got the hang of, the glipse of another dog and she was off across a field...or two and then I would have to follow to get her back, but, dare I say, she is great now and happy to walk along side us. Ill try and post some pics but as you know its not that easy!

So sorry to read about Molly being well below par. Worrying that she is losing weight too

If you want to up her liquid intake try mixing a bit of gravy in with her water from your own meals or a drop of honey. Another idea might to use is to give her the water from cooking carrots as that has lots of vitamins etc in it.

It might be worth you joining Doodles 'n' Poodles website because there are a lot of people on there who are health experts and/or have dogs with various problems like Addisons (which it doesn't sound like) and thyroid troubles.

She and Arthur are both drop dead gorgeous by the way.

Did you know there is a Devon Diehards Doodle meet today at 12am at Dawlish Warren beach and afterwards in the pub. People come from far and wide and the Doodles (and any other dogs) have a whale of a time.

You would be very welcome. Little legs can be catered for too.
