Stout poorly
Stout poorly
Stout meet up with paddy and two old english sheepdogs today, for a walk. Stout and paddy found a stinky puddle and had a wallow. We went for a drink after. When we got home stout was REALLY sick. We phoned paddy's mum and he also been sick. We took him to the vet, and he had an anti sick jab. He came home and seemed brighter. We chucked him in the shower, and noticed the mud smelt a bit 'chemically' he then laid on the sofa and is now shivering, which he doesn't normally do after a bath. The vet said its probably just coz he is feeling poorly.
When should I panic?

Poor boy hope he gets better soon ,thats the trouble with water holes you dont now whats been put in.

Re: Stout poorly
I wouldn't panic but I would give the vet a ring and ask their advice!
I am ultra, ultra paranoid though due to the way we lost Harvey but if Stout isn't right, I would just ring to put your mind at ease.
Hope he soon feels lots better.

Re: Stout poorly
We phoned the vet when he started shivering. He is only doing it laying down, and seems alert. He has never been a 'shivery' dog.
Not sure I will get much sleep tonight.

Poor Stout
Mine aren't shivery either
. How about having a chat with Paddy's Mum and comparing symptoms - has Paddy been to the vet as well?
I think I would ring the vet and mention the chemical smell, just in case.

Re: Stout poorly
I phoned paddys mum on the way back from the vet, he had been sick twice, but had gone to sleep and settled, so they hadn't taken him to the vet. We have just texted her, and he is a bit subdued but no shivering.
Our door bell just rung, and he was up like a shot dashing around.

Re: Stout poorly
Daft question, but could he not be cold after his bath?
Archie isn't a shivery dog either. He is VERY vocal. I have never heard a puppy yawn the way he does and it makes me laugh every time, but he isn't shivery

Re: Stout poorly
Hope Stout is feeling better soon, Kizzy has been sick since yesterday evening and not herself. However since about 4 she's been running around and being a real pain which actually makes me feel alot better
I always feel it's a sign they're getting better when they start getting up to their old tricks. I would keep an eye on Stout but it sounds as if he's beginning to feel a little better. Here's hoping xxx

Re: Stout poorly
Paddy seems fine now and we've given him a little dinner to see if he keeps it down. He still smells, Ian thinks it's petrol. I have alerted all the dog walkers I know to spread the word.
I feel really bad about Stout, he wouldn't be in this state if I hadn't mentioned the blinking walk
I know it's not my fault but still thinking about a poorly dood is very sad. We walk there often (but not anymore) with no ill effects.
Big hugs Stout and see you at Doodlefest xxxxxx

Re: Stout poorly
Ooh susan, don't be silly, stout had a ball, and being a swamp monster who tried to drown himself last weekend, it was only a matter of time before he picked up something nasty from water.
He is also a complete drama queen who is not good at being ill. He is currently on the sofa having a nice cuddle with his daddy!
See you in a couple of weeks!

Sorry to here about Stout's visit to the vet Michelle
Hopefully some rest and a cuddle with his daddy will speed up the healing.
Please give him a gentle hug from us xx
