Foods for Thought
Foods for Thought
Hi Everyone,
At last I may have a diagnosis via blood tests for my 5yr old girl.
It seems she may well have Pancreatitis and needs low fat foods along with medication.
Apart from low fat biscuit I would like to give some other foods to encourage her to eat.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
Sue & Lotti.

I can highly recommend Luna and Me raw patties. Dude has been eating them for over a year..... No more tummy problems! Anny x
Re: Foods for Thought
Ive not heard of Luna before , is it widely available?
Re: Foods for Thought
It's an online company. They have a very good website. Also you can phone and speak to Sammy who started the company, she's very helpful and knowledgable. We have fortnightly scheduled deliveries but you can choose how often you want them to come. The food is really excellent. We changed straight over from processed wet trays and had no problems. Dude has a good appetite but from day 1 he had loose poo and would bring up kibble. For over a year now his tummy has been completely normal. I couldn't be happier. We ran out of Luna one time and bought some Natures Menu raw, but within hours the old problems returned. Anny

Oh poor Lottie........a least you now have a diagnosis and can plan her care..
Has the diagnosis been confirmed ....and if so what's the prognosis?

I am still waiting for a scan or x ray to confirm no blockages , that's tomorrow and today we are going for check up on her progress with meds and new diet. That's all I know so far , will update as I know. She's such a good girl it's wicked these illnesses hit our fur babies.
Re: Foods for Thought
With pancreatitis, it is important to feed only low fat foods while it stabilises, and then you can start to reintroduce higher fat foods slowly in small quantities. It's best not to stay on low fat food permanently as dogs use fat for energy.

Re: Foods for Thought
Well it's confirmed as Panreatitis , bloods came back from lab as positive , x rays show no tumours or blockages thankfully ,and the Vet has set new feeding program, as Bid says low fat and she is still having meds . I must say the effect has been swift and she is now wanting her meals whereas before she would run out the back door so she didn't have to eat! No vomiting now for three days and I feel she is much better and a happier dog .
This Mummy is very grateful for the Vets quick action .
