My beautiful girl is now at peace
Hi, some of you may know me as Bruno's mum. My 10 week old bundle of chocolate trouble.
What none of you know is that I am, sorry, was, mum to Bramley, my black feline companion.
I got her when she was 8 weeks old in 1993 and she was the most clumsy and oafish cat I had met.
This never changed in seventeen years!
Today, I had to say goodbye to her and show her one last time how much I love her.
She had an over active thyroid, but even with medication, she became thin and depressed.
Towards the end, she was eating, but being sick after every meal, until her weight was 2.5kg.
It was kinder to her to let her go. So this is what I did today.
Bramley, you were loving, beautiful, forgiving, tolerant and loyal.
My heart is shattered.
Your mum

I am so sorry for your loss, Claire. As you say, this is the last act of kindness you showed Bramley but it is a terrible experience for us, their loving humans.
She was a lucky girl to spend seventeen happy years with you and I am sure you have many happy memories.

So sorry to read that Clare, my heart goes out to you. One of my cats is very poorly with a tummy growth and we're going to have to make that call soon. Bramley had a very long and happy life and was loved, all a pet can ask for. Remember the happy times, June and Lenny x x

Oh Claire, I have tears in my eyes as I am typing this.
What a moving Eulogy for Bramley. You have given her your love all these years and now your final act of love was to make sure she didn't suffer. Hug Bruno tight to help comfort you. I'm sure he realises you are not right and is missing her too.

Thankyou for all your messages. Wierd to know that Sharron and Archie, because Bruno sat at my feet from when I got home to when we went to bed. He also went outside first thing and actively 'called' for Bramley.tynkerbelluk wrote:I'm sure he realises you are not right and is missing her too.

Oh I'm so sorry. It touched a nerve with me as I had the results back on my little black cat's biopsy yesterday and he has lymphatic cancer. I'm hoping to have a little more time with him but know it won't be long. They are so special to us eh.
RIP little Bramley. And hugs to you. xx

Sorry to hear your cat's not got long left. I'd accepted and got used to the worst when she became ill with her thyroid problems. I knew she was probably too old to bounce back with such a serious illness.Amarante wrote:Oh I'm so sorry. So sorry to hear about Bramley, it's so heartbreaking when we lose our furry friends. One of my dogs is curretly battling leukiamia (sp) and we know we haven't got that long left with her we just take it each week at a time and hope for the best, although she is looking really well at the moment, my mum's dog is also nearing the end at 18 1/2 she is JR X Staffy and is getting less and less mobile, blind but is coping with it.
I am dreading the time the vet tells me there is no more they can do and I have to make that decision , I think you are being really brave and look back on the good times you had together.
Well thats me crying again
