Dog friendly holiday ideas needed!

Instead of buying christmas presents for each other this year, me and the other half have decided to treat ourselves to a few days/week away somewhere, and of course want to take our lovely dood Ghillie with us!

So, I'm sure you guys have been to some great places and wondered if you have any suggestions for a pre-christmas dog friendly holiday?! We were thinking self catering, like a holiday cottage or similar, but were thinking somewhere other than Cornwall, because that's where we always go!

Please help!

Ive been to Brompton Lakes in North Yorkshire, fantastic log cabins and they have some that you can take dogs too. Theres not too much in the surrounding area but great for walks and the cabins are great.
Ive just come back from Bude in Cornwall with Henry, it was great, we stayed right next to summerleaze beach
That is actually a really good idea of not buying presents for each other and having a few days away with your Doodle.

We used this website to book a holiday to Devon (nr Salcombe) last Easter - had such a wonderful time! Lots of lovely walks on Dartmoor, pretty villages to visit and a splash in the sea or the River Dart too

And the New Forest is a great dog friendly place too... Most pubs allowing dogs inside if you want to eat and of course lots of lovely walks

I would highly recommend Forest Holidays for a lovely dog-friendly break. We've been twice with our Doodle (Keldy Forest in Yorkshire and Strathyre in scotland) both were beautiful with gorgeous walks. Accommodation is extremely comfortable, Strathyre had the edge for the amazing views.
Just need to watch your dog doesn't try to join you in the hot tub like ours did....!

We have stayed in a caravan at both Devon Cliffs and Dawlish Warrenn this summer and both of them allowed dogs there. There are a lot of nice places to go for walks, beaches, moors etc in Devon so might be worth looking at.

We go a lot to Derbyshire as there's loads of great walks, activities you can do that your dog can go to too e.g. Crich tramway museum and heights of Abraham and lots of dog friendly pubs. If Derbyshire isn't too far I can recommend some lovely cottages or hotels!

We're going to Brecon this weekend with Aero, his first holiday but I can also heartily recommend http://www.graigwen.co.uk/ in Snowdonia. Maybe a bit extreme weatherwise pre-Christmas but I love it!!

We haven't gone yet, but I've booked Ant, Wispa, and I a room at Northcote Manor in Devon for a couple nights in late November. I found a deal on voyage prive, and then did a google search to see if they were dog friendly, and then called them to double check and see if any dog-friendly rooms were still available. I'm super excited, as Ant has no idea where we're going. I think a lot of places are dog friendly, actually, you've just got to ask!

We stayed in a gorgeous little cottage near Snape before we got Teddy but I know it is dog friendly - it was called 1 Tudor Cottages, Blaxhall and is on this site:

There are great beaches & walks - and Adnams beer in Southwold !!!

Or Wales - we've done Pembrokeshire & Anglesey and loved them both.

We go to LLanbedrog near to Abersoch in Wales

which is a nice detached dog friendly cottage on the headland just a short distance to the beach and pleasant pubs A real fire and cottage garden.
I am going mid november and expect it to be cold but us dog owners are made of strong stuff and it won't worry us too much.

We have been to Southwold, Suffolk which has a fab beach and the golf course for pooch walking. http://www.durrantsholidaycottages.co.uk have some good dog friendly options.

We have also stayed in Foxenhole Farmhouse in Dittisham, Devon and they have some good offers on at the moment. It has a really big garden and a short drive from the farmhouse is the water front at Dittisham which has a playing field you can exercise the dog on http://www.toadhallcottages.co.uk/property/1199/

www.cottagesforyou have great holiday homes that allow pets in many of them too, as long as you pay a deposit up front for your pet to cover any damge that may occur. refunded at the end of holiday obviously if no doggy damage done.
I found a couple of lovely places for my mum and dad in Devon on this website and they had brilliant holidays that they have recommended to others.
Don't think the holidays were too costly either if I recall correctly.
