You can use this area for idle or not so idle chat that is not related to Labradoodles as long as you keep it free of flame wars and anything obscene.

£9,770 Bill Sorry but need to rant!!!!!

Post by hockborn » 01 May 2014, 19:53

Warning to everyone. Stupidly without realising it I put £8 of unleaded petrol into my beloved car. DROVE IT....... Now have a whopping £9,700 bill from Mercedes. I called them out as I thought my car had broken down. Cue coronary and fainting spells  :( :(
Irony of it is that I have never let any of my Doods in it in case they cause any damage!!!!!!!

That seems like a hell of a lot...???? Have they got the decimal point in the wrong place??? I'd expect £900, not £9000!

Oh I can believe it... if you normally burn diesel. We don't have that model in diesel here (gas only), but driving a diesel Benz myself I know how fast the bills can get cranked up.

This shot yesterday afternoon when I arrived to see my engine spread all over the shop... two days of labour to repair a minor oil leak. Happily, this is warranty work for me, but I feel your pain nonetheless!

oh Nat did that except it was a full tank of petrol - she drove it about a mile then did a quick stop and it wouldn't start. Luckily I think in total it only cost about £300 for a drain and the engine wasn't damaged.

Your Merc is beautiful and I am very jealous but a 9K bill.

Wow - was that a new engine? My diesel car has a specially shaped filler so that you can't put petrol in. I've never tried to do it but it's hard enough to get the diesel nozzle in - it needs a wiggle. Such a simple idea but it seems to be effective.
